You can control the "scope", as you say, of your theorem from within
LyX. Position your cursor within the enumerate environment and use the
toolbar button "Increase depth" (or the shortcut Alt+Shift+Right). This
will put the enumerate environment within the previous environment when
possible, in this case theorem.

2010-06-19 Thread Paul Rubin
The theorem module uses the amsthm package. If you check check section 4.3 of
the manual for ammsthm, you'll find the syntax for the \newtheoremstyle command.
You will want to hack the include file to put code in the preamble creating new
theorem styles with names you supply (e.g., myThm) and then replace any
instances of \theoremstyle{plain} with \theoremstyle{myThm} (or whatever
modified style you want for that type of environment).

RE: TOC Chapter description

2010-06-19 Thread Yannick Fournier
Hi Morten,

You might want to try the "chapterprecis" text style available with Memoir
(at least with book (Memoir). Its function is to include a short description
of a chapter both at the beginning of the chapter and in the TOC too.

Yannick

Getting theorems in upright or italics font

2010-06-19 Thread Daniel CLEMENT
Hi,

I cannot quite control the font shape in theorems with the theorems.inc
module. I can have the Definitions upright with:

Style Definition
[...]
Font
  Shape Up
EndFont

but it does not work for Theorem, Proposition and Remark (at least):
they remain in italics, regardless of this setting.

OTTH, I could just leave all these statements in italics, but I come
across another problem : when I enumerate within a theorem:

Theorem X: The following are equivalent:
 1. property one ;
 2. property two.

... the the properties come out upright, unlike the beginning of the
theorem.

(That could be a problem with the scope of the theorem: it did not occur
when I introduced (and closed) my theorems with ERT boxes, so I guess my
enumeration is no longer really "within" the theorem.)

I can think of several ugly workarounds, but I'd welcome a clean one...

TIA - regards,

Document class "article (more font sizes)" not working in Hebrew documents?

2010-06-19 Thread Barak Sh
Hello all,

I've tried to change an article's document class to "article (more
font sizes)", in order to use a smaller base size for fonts (8 instead
of 10).
However, I could not export the article; I got a LaTeX error
"\...@chapter undefined". This error appears even if I erase all
contents of the document, and only in Hebrew documents.
Any idea where this error could have come from, and how to solve it?

I would like to make the fonts smaller but still have larger fonts for
titles, how is that possible without changing the base font size (and
without painstakingly changing the individual font sizes of each title
and paragraph)?

Thanks,

Barak

Thanks! However, the code does not seem to change anything.

Is there any way to solve this problem?

see http://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/6389.

In this bug it was reported that using the normal "two-column document"
the columns were aligned wrong.

If you add the code in the last block to your preamble it should work.
Please report back whether this fixes your problem.

Multicol package - right to left alignment?

2010-06-19 Thread Barak Sh
Hello,
I'm trying to use the multicol package in order to print a formula sheet
with 3 columns and a vertical line separating them. The document is in
Hebrew and should be aligned right to left.
When using the usual "Two-column document" setting in LyX, the columns are
aligned right to left as required. However, when using multicol, the columns
are aligned left to right.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Barak

Try a mirror server, e.g.
ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/lyx/bin/1.6.6.1/

I have test LyX+Maxima+Ubuntu and it works perfectly:

For Windows, I saw this page:
