Hi everyone,

I'm using Lyx 2.0. I have an English book which uses a few Hebrew and
Greek words. I need to use biblatex-chicago footnote citations with this
book.

I've installed:

Language: English USA
Encoding: Unicode (XeTex)(utf8)
Language package: Always Babel

Output: Default output format: PDF (XeTex)

Preamble:

\usepackage[hebrew,greek,english]{babel}
\usepackage{fontspec}
\usepackage{csquotes}
\usepackage[backend=biber]{biblatex}
\chapterstyle{bianchi}

I can insert citations, but when I try to make the PDF file I get the
following error messages:

Package biblatex Error: ' \bibliographystyle' invalid.
LaTex error: Can be used only in preamble.

Use the package option 'style' instead.
I'm ignoring the command.

What am I doing wrong here, and how can I fix it?

This extract:
% increase link area for cross-references and autoname them
\AtBeginDocument{\renewcommand{\ref}[1]{\mbox{\autoref{#1

from your preamble is an old trick to change the normal reference
format, which appear as "" in the cross-ref dialog of LyX,
into named references. Named references are now supported by LyX so it
is no longer necessary to use this trick. Simply use the "Formatted
reference" format in the cross-ref dialog. We should probably remove
this trick from places where it is used in LyX's docs and templates.

Named references are provided by one of these latex packages: either
prettyref or refstyle. This is configurable in the "Doucment class" options.

Using prettyref you can write in your preamble:
\newrefformat{fig}{Fig.~\ref{#1}}

If you are using hyperref and you want the "Fig." part to be clickable
also, instead use this:

\newrefformat{fig}{\hyperref[#1]{Fig.~\ref*{#1}}}

I do not know at the moment how to customize refstyle, but it should be
possible to do so in a similar way.

It is very urgent for me... i absolutely need to insert score in an article.

Hi,

There are two ways to get your score into your article. The first is to
have an external .ly file which you include as graphic in your document.
This works fine if your score is shorter than a page.

The second is to use the new lilypond module, which will work with
lilypond-book to produce your document. This also supports long scores.
To use the lilypond module that comes with LyX, Lilypond 2.12 is not
recent enough... we require 2.13 which is the development version. I
think that there are no ubuntu packages for it, but you can download the
source code and compile lilypond 2.13 following their instructions (if
you are familiar with open source, it's really not too hard to do).

After installing lilypond 2.13, you will need to reconfigure LyX.

If you can't or won't install lilypond 2.13, I can tell you how to
configure LyX to use 2.12, but I expect that we get problems doing so. I
would highly recommend you try either the approach with the external .ly
file or to get 2.13 to get the lilypond module working.

I do not know for sure, but I would guess that this template is meant to
use the autoref features of hyperref. There is no direct support for
this in LyX. That is, you can do things like:

\autoref{fig:mylabel}

LyX performs a forward search for the last generated format, so it means
that you generated a pdf after the dvi, even if you quitted the pdf viewer

I would like to make a specific page numbering style in the footer,

A horizontal line in the footer which is interrupted by the page number

If you have the mboxfill package installed, you can change the page style to
"fancy" (Document> Settings...> Page Layout> Headings style) and add the
following to the preamble of your document:

\usepackage{mboxfill}
\cfoot{\mboxfill[2\width][c]{-}\thepage\mboxfill[2\width][c]{-}}

Paul

Another solution also using fancy page headers in the document settings
but plain tex otherwise. Put this in the preamble.

\def\hlinefill{\leavevmode\cleaders\hbox{\rule[0.6ex]{1em}{0.4pt}}\hfill}
\fancyfoot{\hlinefill~~~\thepage~~~\hlinefill}

In the above:
- 0.6ex is the height of the line (looks kind of centered)
- 1em is the width of a line segment which gets repeated to fill space
- 0.4pt is the thickness of the line (this particular choice is a
default value elsewhere in tex)

By the way, using fancy headers will add default headers, if you don't
want them you get rid of them with

\fancyhead{}

OK, things still aren't quite right but I think I've uncovered what
might be the problem. As I note above, when I first set things up, I
was certain I had selected the supplied Yap command for Preferences ->
Output -> General. However, since I was only using Yap, I left the
field for the PDF viewer blank. This led to the "Couldn't proceed"
message when I invoked Forward Search. I have since added the supplied
viewer command for SumatraPDF, even though I am only previewing with
DVI, and now when I invoke Forward Search, I see the following error
message:

13:00:31.093: The process failed to start. Either the invoked program is
missing, or you may have insufficient permissions to invoke the
program...\..\..\lyx-2.0.0\src\support\Systemcall.cpp(217): Systemcall:

did not start!
..\..\..\lyx-2.0.0\src\support\Systemcall.cpp(218): error The process
failed to start. Either the invoked program is missing, or you may have
insufficient permissions

That is, LyX is calling the appropriate forward search command for a PDF
preview document, not DVI. According to the documentation, this should
not be happening:

  Forward search works both with DVI and PDF output. LyX simply
  checks which preview format you have used before (i.e., which
  format is already there in the temporary directory) and chooses
  the appropriate configuration for the respective format.

I have checked the Temp directory LyX is using for my current document
and there are no signs that I am using PDF there; there are only the
output files you expect from using the latex command to generate a DVI
file. I'm not sure why forward search started working properly for me
last night -- something happened to enable LyX correctly to realize that
I was doing a DVI preview -- but pretty clearly its invoking the forward
search command appropriate for PDF instead of DVI is the reason why it
wasn't working for me before and is not working again now. (The problem
arises whether or not I use the synctex option.)

Suggestions, as always, much appreciated.

Dear list,

Removing the % was fine.
I tried it myself and succeeded with the absolute path name for the image.
E. g. /Users/stephan/Desktop/mylogo for /Users/stephan/Desktop/mylogo.pdf

I'm using LyX 2.0.0 ...

logo on front slide of beamer presentation

2011-05-23 Thread Marit Elisabeth Klemetsen
Hi!

My name is Marit and I am working on my thesis presentation in a template
called "beamer-conference-ornate-20min". I am trying to do include the logo
of Stockholm University on the front slide and the instructions I get from
the template are:

"If you have a file called "institution-logo-filename.xxx", where xxx is a
graphic format that can be processed by latex or pdflatex, resp., then you
can add a logo by uncommenting the following:

%\pgfdeclareimage[height=0.5cm]{institution-logo}{institution-logo-filename}

%\logo{\pgfuseimage{institution-logo}}
"
Do I need to install pgf? I hope I can avoid this. I have the logo in .pdf
and in .tif . Can LyX process this? I saved the logo in the same folder as
my lyx document. I removed the % signs guessing that I then am
"uncommenting" the code. I named the file "institution-logo-filename" just
to test it. But it didn't work.
Is there a code to include a logo in pdf format?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Marit

Not yet. I hope we will have it for 2.0.1.

PDF will not reload

I've used IObit to Uninstall all Adobe and related PDF software(Foxit...)
Uninstall Lyx using IObit.
Clean the register with Execute>regedit
Searching and deleting all Adobe and Lyx entries.
After reboot the computer I've installed Lyx 2.0.
Reboot.
And finally it works!

Good luck

Thanks,
