\reversemarginpar places notes too far out
I'm writing a book (book class) in which I want to have marginal notes containing symbols, rather like the Dummies series. As it's a book I'm using the two-sided layout. This works OK using the marginal note command, but after I put a blank page at the beginning (needed to make the title page etc. appear on the correct side), the marginal notes come out on the wrong sides of the pages in the body of the text. I found the command \reversemarginpar, which corrects the error except that the notes are now too far away from the text, right at the edge of the page. Any way to fix this? I tried adding width arguments, e.g. [width=12pt] and [width=0.5in] without effect. Error converting to loadable format + updating Lyx
I am getting the dreaded ImageMagick Studio library and utility programs has stopped working followed by Error converting to loadable format with my LyX Version 2.0.5.1 on a Windows 7 64 bit system. FWIW, this has happened to me in past Lyx versions and seems to start when I edit a copy of a Lyx file. Lyx seems to work OK on files I created previously. I searched here and the only solution seems to be to re-install Lyx. I have found that approach does work. That's OK because it is time to upgrade anyway although it would be good to have a better workaround. Questions: 1. Are there any improved ways for dealing with the errors? 2. I want to install from a Windows binary. I found the list of files at the end of the email on the binaries page but no explanation on what they are. Could someone explain what they are or point me to the proper one to use with my computer (Windows 7 64 bit)? I never know whether to uninstall the previous version. formatted cross-reference language
Dear LyX Users and Developers, I am using LyX 2.0.5.1 on OSX 10.8. I am working on a document that has Document Settings Language set to `German' and the custom class option `german' as well. The LyX GUI is English as is the OS language setting. As indicated in the subject, formatted cross-references are set in English instead of German. I read up on the web regarding i18n issues and made sure that LyX uses the refstyle package for cross-referencing (Document Settings Document Class). FWIW, nomenclatures commands, e.g. \nomrefeq, are set in German. Could you give me a hint on where to look next for a solution? Best Regards, Michael

"Error converting to loadable format" + updating Lyx
I am getting the dreaded "ImageMagick Studio library and utility programs has stopped working" followed by "Error converting to loadable format" with my LyX Version 2.0.5.1 on a Windows 7 64 bit system. IIRC, in the past I have not and the update seems to work OK. What is the suggested thing to do? formatted cross-reference language
Dear LyX Users and Developers, I am using LyX 2.0.5.1 on OSX 10.8. I am working on a document that has Document > Settings > Language set to `German' and the custom class option `german' as well. The LyX GUI is English as is the OS language setting. As indicated in the subject, formatted cross-references are set in English instead of German. I read up on the web regarding i18n issues and made sure that LyX uses the refstyle package for cross-referencing (Document > Settings > Document Class). FWIW, nomenclatures commands, e.g. \nomrefeq, are set in German. Could you give me a hint on where to look next for a solution? Best Regards, Michael

Unfortunately, I'm not on Windows, so I'm not going to be any help. Questions: 2. I want to install from a Windows binary. So, e.g., in this case, you'd want either LyX-2.0.6-Bundle-2.exe or LyX-2.0.6-Installer-2.exe. I believe the former contains everything you need to run LyX, whereas the latter downloads what it needs? I'm not sure. I never know whether to uninstall the previous version. IIRC, in the past I have not and the update seems to work OK. What is the suggested thing to do? For what it's worth, my sense is that, on Windows, you're best off uninstalling and re-installing. I guess I'd start by looking at the generated LaTeX, and see if something is wrong there. Richard
A question about SAS output in lyx
Dear all: I've a problem inserting the SAS output into my lyx file. I use ODS system in SAS and get a tex file. Then I try to use the program listing to add it into lys file but failed. What should I do with it? Thank you very much. I'm so frustrated with this problem for googling one day! Joyce
