Re: RCS on Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks with Xcode 5.1 doesn't work

2013-11-11 Thread Alex Liberzon
Thanks,

So the solution for Mac OS X Mavericks with Xcode 5 that doesn’t include RCS
anymore is to download the GNU-RCS from this site:

https://code.google.com/p/rudix-mountainlion/downloads/detail?name=rcs-5.9.0-0.pkg

and using Control-Click option, open and install the RCS. Lyx version control
works back for me.

Best regards,
Alex

The CVS and RCS source control tools have been removed from Xcode 5. 11968433

Removing CVS and RCS control from Xcode doesn't imply it's removed from LyX.

Does anybody know how to get those working back?

You have to provide the cvs and rcs executables to get it working.
Perhaps you miss these command line tools now after going to 10.9 + Xcode 5.

Isn't it about time to use Git for Lyx?
Does anyone know how to use Git from Lyx
( I know how to use it in the command line)

It's supported with the upcoming LyX-2.1 release.

Perhaps instead of trying to install all languages, just install those

Actually, though, why you can't install all languages is somehow a fault

LyX label and reference problem - Faulty pdf

2013-11-11 Thread Mark Mandelkern

LyX label and reference problem - faulty pdf

This is about internal labels and references, as for theorem
numbers and section numbers, not about the references at
the end of a paper.

These numbers should appear in an exported pdf, but
at times the pdf will have only ?? instead of the
numbers, at more than a hundred places. The labels
appear, but not the references. Thus, the exported
pdf is useless.

Program restart does not help. Computer restart does
not help. The only solution I have found is a complete
reinstall of the program, including MikTek. And even
then, it is necessary to go back to a previous saved
draft, and re-enter many updates. Sometimes
a day's work. Sometimes a crucial line is lost.

Is there a cure for this serious malfunctioning?

Hi Bart,

More information would be useful. How did you upgrade? Did you upgrade
in Ubuntu? Or by upgrade do you mean you did a clean install of
13.10 (in which case the fact that you upgraded from 13.04 or
whichever version is irrelevant)?

You have enchant installed, but what settings do you have under Tools
 Preferences Language Settings Spellchecker?

You mentioned that *dutch* spell checking does not work. Does spell
checking in other languages work?

I'm confident we can get your spell checking up and running as I've
had good experience (in various languages) on Ubuntu.

The spell checker uses the language of your text automatically.

You have to set your document language to Dutch or mark your text with Dutch
language.
So you can mix languages easily and spell checking is done with the appropriate
dictionaries.

Re: RCS on Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks with Xcode 5.1 doesn't work

Thanks,

So the solution for Mac OS X Mavericks with Xcode 5 that doesn’t include RCS
anymore is to download the GNU-RCS from this site:

https://code.google.com/p/rudix-mountainlion/downloads/detail?name=rcs-5.9.0-0.pkg

and using Control-Click option, open and install the RCS. Lyx version control
works back for me.

It's supported with the upcoming LyX-2.1 release.

More information would be useful. How did you upgrade? Did you upgrade
in Ubuntu? Or by upgrade do you mean you did a clean install of
13.10 (in which case the fact that you upgraded from 13.04 or
whichever version is irrelevant)?

You have enchant installed, but what settings do you have under Tools
 Preferences Language Settings Spellchecker?

You mentioned that *dutch* spell checking does not work. Does spell
checking in other languages work?

I'm confident we can get your spell checking up and running as I've
had good experience (in various languages) on Ubuntu.

When pressing F7 (Spell checker) I get the message: Spell checker has no
 dictionaries

In Document settings the Language is set to
 Dutch,
 encoding: Language Default,
Language package: now set to 'always babel' because I've tried them all, and
 none seemed to work.

I hope it already shows an error in my configuration.

I'm hoping that doing Tools Reconfigure will fix this. My guess is
that LyX doesn't know where the spelling libraries are since the
system changed. Does that work?

I'm sorry, I did intend to reply to the list, but gmail has different
defaults then what people want of course.

reconfigure doesn't do any better. I deleted the config file in .lyx
directory, didn't help either.

In language Settings - Language
I have now 'Dutch' as user interface language, but it remains English
anyway...
Language package: Automatic
Command start: \selectlanguage{$$lang}

Do I have to replace 'lang' with 'nl' or 'dutch'? I expect it should stay
'lang', as a variable, set by the language package.

The spell checker uses the language of your text automatically.

You have to set your document language to Dutch or mark your text with Dutch
language.
So you can mix languages easily and spell checking is done with the appropriate
dictionaries.

Thanks,

So the solution for Mac OS X Mavericks with Xcode 5 that doesn’t include RCS
anymore is to download the GNU-RCS from this site:

https://code.google.com/p/rudix-mountainlion/downloads/detail?name=rcs-5.9.0-0.pkg

and using Control-Click option, open and install the RCS. Lyx version control
works back for me.

more serious:

 and no output.

I use lyx 2.0.6-1+b1 and texlive 2013 under Debian

In the internet I found

I solve my problem installing all the complements of Texlive from Synaptic
Package manager, to my computer with Ubuntu 13.10
When I upgrade from Ubuntu 13.04 the newest version of Texlive was
installed but not the language complements and other programs, then
systematic errors araised.
What is meant with "all the complements"?
In synaptic there is no texlive-lang all under 2013, whereas it is under 2012.
Can I use the 2012 or what would you recommend?

I guess it's the same problem others mentioned already on this list:
It looks like the package dependencies of "modern" Linux systems doesn't
include the language packages of TeX-Live anymore.

Please check if you have the needed language packs of TeX-Live installed.

Editing the LyX files manually seems like a very fragile option to solve this.

The condition should rather be:

If you plan to typeset German documents or mixed-language documents
containing German parts, install texlive-lang-german.

This is only an option, if the use of "ngerman" is not intended and there is
no German text in the document.

I guess I need texlive-lang-all
which is not in the texlive 2013 of synaptic, but in texlive 2012

If I select this for installation, synaptic is going to remove a lot of
texlive and other stuff, which I hesitate to do.

If I try to install texlive-lang-all by apt-get install,
I get

root@wolfgang:/home/we# apt-get install texlive-lang-all
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig

 texlive-lang-all : Hängt ab von: texlive-lang-latvian (>= 2012.20120516)

and so on in a long list

what to do??

It is a purely (American)English chapter for a Springer book (except some

I guess I need texlive-lang-all

which is not in the texlive 2013 of synaptic, but in texlive 2012

If I select this for installation, synaptic is going to remove a lot
of texlive and other stuff, which I hesitate to do.

If I try to install texlive-lang-all by apt-get install,

I get

root@wolfgang:/home/we# apt-get install texlive-lang-all

Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig

Perhaps instead of trying to install all languages, just install those

Actually, though, why you can't install all languages is somehow a fault
of either the package maintainer, or the archive you are using. What

install the Latvian package? Maybe the file wasn't found?

Mark

This sounds like a very frustrating experience. See my comments in-line.

Can you send (to the list) a minimal working example?

Doesn't this suggest that the problem is with MikTeX? Why do you think
it is a LyX issue? I really have no idea and it could still be a LyX
issue (maybe LyX triggers something when a new MikTeX installation is
found), but I'm curious on your thoughts.

spell check (again)

2013-11-11 Thread bart deruyter
Hi all,

I've upgraded to kubuntu 13.10 and can't get my dutch spell checking to
work in Lyx. It seems to be an issue after each setup I do, though usually
I find what I need, but now I don't.

Enchant is installed, myspell-nl too, something specifically I've got to do
in lyx?

thanks in advance,

2013-11-11 Thread Scott Kostyshak
Hi Bart,

More information would be useful. How did you upgrade? Did you upgrade
in Ubuntu? Or by "upgrade" do you mean you did a clean install of
13.10 (in which case the fact that you "upgraded" from 13.04 or
whichever version is irrelevant)?

You have enchant installed, but what settings do you have under Tools
> Preferences > Language Settings > Spellchecker?

You mentioned that *dutch* spell checking does not work. Does spell
checking in other languages work?

I'm confident we can get your spell checking up and running as I've
had good experience (in various languages) on Ubuntu.

Best,

Scott

The config files of LyX are in ~/.lyx so perhaps they did not change
(a difference on the system could have lead to a reconfigure in some
cases I think though).

that LyX doesn't know where the spelling libraries are since the

I'm sorry, I did intend to reply to the list, but gmail has different
defaults then what people want of course.

reconfigure doesn't do any better. I deleted the config file in .lyx
directory, didn't help either.

In  language Settings -> Language
I have now 'Dutch' as user interface language, but it remains English
anyway...
Language package: Automatic
Command start: \selectlanguage{$$lang}

Do I have to replace 'lang' with 'nl' or 'dutch'? I expect it should stay
'lang', as a variable, set by the language package.

The spell checker uses the language of your text automatically.

You have to set your document language to Dutch or mark your text with "Dutch"
language.
So you can mix languages easily and spell checking is done with the appropriate
dictionaries.
