still spellchecker

2001-09-02 Thread thomas schönhoff

Hello,

after searching in mail-archive.com and trying Herbert Voss'
recommandations (deutsch instead of German option in configurations
dialog) my spellchecker still isn't working. Everytime I got the error
message:

Ispell process died for some reason. One possible reason could
be that you don't have a dictionary file for the language of this
document installed:
Check usr/lib/ispell or set another dictionary in the
spellchekcer options menu.

This is what I did:

1. fetching packages from CTAN, German.zip, and both hyphenation files
(ngeran, german). Unfortunately I didn't find to much information where
to place this files in the accompaigning docs. :-[

2. In ~/Lyxrc I have aspell set for my spellchecker (aspell 0.32.1 alpha)

3. Reconfigure and all the like (texhash)

Ther at least some questions left:

1. Are dictionary files ending up with .hash ?

2. If, does this mean some files have to be copied to /usr/lib/aspell
(usr/lib/ispell deosn't exist) ?

3. I would be pleased if someone could tell me what files do have to be
placed in /usr/lib/aspell?

4. Is there a problem that Lyx does not recognise the aspell directory
and insiting ispell to be installed in every case?

So I end up with lots of questions, but no more ideas how to manage my
spellchecking problem. So every hint is appreciated :-\

Thanks to all
Thomas

If no .aux file exists, I think that no numbering is set
even if you asked for it in the init file or on the command line.
In the same line, section numbering does not work in lines
with diacritics (but this one may be solved in recent versions).

Lyx 1.1.6 should automatically run latex in order to create an aux file.

It is not possible with normal latex.

makes this strange is that these items are an almost exact direct copy of the

 There's no clue in cua.bind or menus.bind.

The difference is in the lyx source code (in lyxfunc.C),
namely you need to edit the source in order to enable toggling of the button.

installing fonts: what am I doing wrong?

2001-09-02 Thread Christopher M. Jones

I recently wanted to find and install the Baskerville font on my system (I
saw it in a book and liked it). After much digging, I found it as part of the
psfonts on CTAN. There were two dirs: baskerbe and baskervi. Not knowing the
difference (what is the difference?) I downloaded and installed them both.

The install I did was as follows, because I simply don't know any better: the
directory I downloaded contained ./tex ./tfm ./vf directories. I coppied the
files in each of these directories to what looked like the appropriate place
in my tex tree: vf files went in /usr/share/texmf/fonts/vf/adobe/baskerbe and
baskervi, tfm files went in /usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/adobe/ ... , fd files
went into /usr/share/tex/latex/psnfss. I then catted the ???.map files onto
my /etc/texmf/dvips/psfonts.map file, did a texconfig rehash, put
\usepackage{baskerbe} into my preamble, and viewed the postscript.

The font looks positively horrible. None of the characters are spaced
correctly, none of them are sized correctly, and the font itself looks
nothing like baskerville. What did I do wrong? What do I need to do to
install these fonts? I've looked at fntguide, but if the answer is there then
I don't see it

I am thinking that when I made copies using 'KDE' could be problem.

PS: A general note for people who want to do html export, is to try
several latex-html converters (latex2html, tth) and pick the one that
works best for them.

makes this strange is that these items are an almost exact direct copy of the

Ispell process died for some reason. "One" possible reason could
be that you don't have a dictionary file for the language of this

This is what I did:

1. fetching packages from CTAN, German.zip, and both hyphenation files

to place this files in the accompaigning docs. :-[

2. In ~/Lyxrc I have aspell set for my spellchecker (aspell 0.32.1 alpha)

Ther at least some questions left:

1. Are dictionary files ending up with ".hash "?

So I end up with lots of questions, but no more ideas how to manage my

The difference is in the lyx source code (in lyxfunc.C),

Use pdflatex (and add the pdftex option to hyperref).

Postscript_View

2001-09-02 Thread Karshi Hasanov

Hi all,

When I move *.lyx file from one place to another ( or copy it), I can't
view it as a postscript file anymore using LyX.
KlyX (KDE LyX)works fine, but LyX.
Can any one explain me why?

Hi

I'm new to lyx and tex and all this stuff. I gave it a try and I like it. I
just have one major problem: I cannot change the default font to sans serif
instead of roman. I took the /usr/share/lyx/layouts/stdclass.inc file and
tried to set in the DefaultFont section "Family" to Sans. This works fine
as long as I only view the text in LyX, but as soon as I want to look at it
in xdvi it's in Roman again.

Don't have the farest idea how to change it though...

Im using LyX on a Debian Sid distribution.

(perhaps the problem is the html package.)

as far as i understand it only changes the text block, not the page itself

When I use " lyx --export latex some_file.lyx", and then " latex
some_file.tex", then " dvips -f some_file.dvi" , then " ps2pdf
some_file.ps" works.
But I do " to " from inside LyX it does not work. It
will hang for long time. (also postscriptview doesn't work).
As a matter of fact, if I take all pictures from my file , and do
" to " then it works.

Is this problem with LyX? Since I don't have this problem with KLyX.

However a doc file which would compile just ok under the older version

has not been changed at all

how can i sort it out?

installing fonts: what am I doing wrong?

Re: help_postscriptview

2001-09-02 Thread karshi . hasanov

I had to reintall SeSu7.2, and backed up all *.lyx files (including
pictures). Now I am trying to use LyX, it doesn't want to convert my
files to postscriptview (or pdf). This LyX is the same version I wrote
all these files.
KLyX works fine, but I wanna use LyX. However, without pictures it works
fine. Also, it works fine for a new file with pictures. I have to finish
my old file. I can't understand what is the problem.
I am thinking that when I made copies using 'KDE' could be problem.
I don't know. Now I worry about future use of LyX. I don't blame it,
but I wanna know what I've done wrong.

Thank you. That worked for "normal" LyX. CJK-LyX didn't compile, though
"./configure" was - like for normal lyx - o.k.

However, as I can use the rpm for cjk-lyx and the compiled version for
