figure in DIN letter
Hello, does anyone know, how to include a figure or graph on the top of a letter (german)or letter (g-brief) so that it will appear on the same site and not on a different one as the text. Thanks. LyX-1.1.6fix4 configure problem
configure complains that my compiler is not powerful enough to compile libsigc++. I have tried Hewlett-Packard CC as well as GNU-cc (version 2.7.1). Which compiler can be recommended for getting LyX installed? Ulrich Deiters

dvi/pdf/ps available for export/view
Hello, I am evaluating Lyx for use in the graduate department in our Faculty of Computer Science. I installed 1.1.5 at home under Redhat 7.1 (where I have root). It installed well. At the University, however, I have no root access. I installed Lyx 1.1.6fix4 under my own account. The program installation went well (after several tries) but when the program runs, I have no option to export or view my files as dvi, pdf, or postscript. We have ghostview and xdvi installed on the server where Lyx is installed. Is there some configuration file where I can specify the location of my document viewers so that they will appear in the menus? Note, I have run /.configure and make, but havn't run make install. I'm running lyx as /src/lyx. Once I've evaluated the software and it is deamed usable by graduate students with little technical knowledge, we will install it as root for all users. Thanks for any help, Dean Landry FCS Help Desk Dalhousie University [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: super/subscript
using 1.1.6fix4 C-m works fine for mathmode, but when I type the copyright in (is there an easier way besides typing the word copyright?), the sign appears superscripted but should be much smaller. I am using this in an article heading.

In my LyX 1.1.6 its Alt-M M or Ctrl-M for entering math mode (seems like a misspelling in the first answer) Press then again Meta-M which enters math-text-mode and allows you type non-italic sub/superscripts. again, Alt-M M or Ctrl-M. By this method, your super- subscripts will by default be of normal size. To get smaller ones, you can (still in math-mode, blue box) do Alt-c r (or Alt-z r on German localization) for Character-layout roman. Math mode will prevent you from input of special chars, though. Introduction documentation
Hi, when reading changed Introduction (yes, it is MUCH better in *fix4, than it was before), I found very nicely written chapter about WYSIWYM concept. Maybe, that it may be worthy to mention, that similar concept as WYSIWYM is called in SGML/HTML world ``structured authoring'' (see for example, HTML4 standard on W3C website). Actually, it was the reason why I have switched to LyX from Lout (although, I still believe, that Lout is much better than whatever was created in *TeX world; maybe, with exception of ConTeXt; but both of these formatting programs have one crucial disadvantage for me -- there is no LyX for them :-).

LyX-1.1.6fix4 configure problem
"configure" complains that my compiler is not powerful enough to compile libsigc++.

By this method, your super- subscripts will by default be of normal size. To get smaller ones, you can (still in math-mode, blue box) do Alt-c r (or Alt-z r on German localization) for "Character-layout roman". Math mode will prevent you from input of special chars, though. GM -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]

In order that others may enjoy the result of this work of my computer, I have uploaded the binary package on http://www.volny.cz/cepls/cizi/ . It requires xforms-0.89-1. If anybody would to repeat my effort on her computer, then I have attached also a file rpm-qa.log, which lists all rpm packages I have installed on my computer (so you can check that you have sufficient versions of required packages). Happy LyXing!
