He replied me that it works now after reinstalling as I suggested and then
reconfiguring LyX.

I'm running LyX 1.4.3-5 on Win XP, and when I use IEEETran and output to
PDF, the author is displayed properly.

Do you use MikTeX and, if so, did you install the IEEETran class using
the MikTeX?

Perhaps you should post a small example of a LyX file where the author
does not display. (I did not find one in the Zip file you linked to.)

Unfortunately I don't know what the problem is. I'll leave that to
the LyX experts, but just wanted to let you know that it works under
LyX 1.3.7. I saw the same behavior under LyX 1.4.3. Mac edition.

Please, if possible, don't send me MS Word or Powerpoint attachments.
Send plain text, rich text format, html, or pdf instead.
Why? See: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/no-word-attachments.html

Hi Paul,

sorry for these beginner questions - I've just started to use LyX after
using LaTeX for just a few weeks...

In Help->LaTeX Configuration section 4.23 if have "Found: scrartcl:
@chk_scrartcl@, scrreprt: @chk_scrreprt@, scrbook: @chk_scrbook@"
scrreport is installed properly in MikTex (and it works in plain LaTeX
documents).
But what does that mean? How can I get it working?

Regards, Toby

As Uwe wrote, the presence of '@chk_...@' where you should have a simple
'yes' or 'no' indicates a problem with the installation. Out of
curiosity, did you already have the sed utility installed on your system
prior to installing LyX? (This would happen if you had Cygwin
installed, or if you had installed the GnuWin32 version of sed.) I
think that the configuration script (which is a Python program) runs
lines containing '@chk_...@' through sed, and I wonder if perhaps an
obsolete version of sed failed to process the strings correctly.

If you run Tools->Reconfigure in LyX, does that help?

Spacing changes in the Memoir class

2007-01-05 Thread Eran Kaplinsky
The memoir class has been recently updated (Dec. 11) and changes have
been made to spacing commands.

As a result, a LyX document using the class will produce errors if
paragraph spacing is defined through the Edit>Paragraph menu.

For example, if your document is one-half spaced, but you'd like to
single space specific content, you will get an "environment undefined"
LateX error.

Furthermore, documents using a custom quote style from the memman.pdf
won't work. For example:

\makeatletter
\renewenvironment{quote}
  {\begin{spacing}{1}\list{}{\rightmargin\leftmargin}%
  \footnotesize\item\relax}
  {\endlist\end{spacing}\noindent\hspace{-0.333em}}
\makeatother

The first problem can be overcome by keeping all paragraphs with default
spacing, and using ERT commands on a separate line, e.g.,
\SingleSpacing \OnehalfSpacing -- but I don't know what do about custom
spacing (say, half a cm) or the custom quote style.

Best,

EK

pst-tree and LyX

2007-01-05 Thread Gunnar
I think I reallty need some help on creating a tree with the pstrick package
pst-tree.

I've created a small file called tree.tex with the following content

\psset{labelsep=2pt,tnpos=a,radius=2pt}
\pstree[treemode=R]{\Tp}
{
\TC*~{5}{terrylen}
\TC*~{5}{terrylen}
}

what do i do next?
I use teTeX (and it uses pdflatex so there might be a fierce battle between
postscript and pdf...

Best wishes
Gunnar
