i am a new user, i am writing my degree thesis in lyx since i don't want
to use Word (the results with lyx are far better)
However i incurred in 3 problem that i need to solve if i want to make
EVERYthing in lyx:
1. I should use a particular position for the inscription of the

\pdf link ended up in different nesting level than \pd
which apparently has to do with citations. I just wonder what the error
exactly means
I do not get this error by running ps2pdf

(capital) shorter then the rest of the capitals of the alphabet. It is ok for
Latin Modern Sans and Latin Modern typewriter.
It is also ok for bold and italic.
What might be the cause of it?

I've looked around and learned that there is an incompatibility between
the 'listings' and the 'babel' package.
A sort of fix to avoid the LAtex error message I was speaking in my
previous message is to load the 'listings' package before the 'babel' one,

Today I updated MiKTeX 2.7 packages on windows and reconfigured LyX after that.
Now LyX shows all classes as unavailable. I have no idea what is going on. I
would not expect this behavior because it was only a package update (not an
upgrade).

Well, darn! It's just not showing up in xdvik, or the .pdf. Please suggest
how I determine why not.

FWIW, I'm re-reading portions of Kopka and Daly, and I've ordered copies
of Lamport's and Knuth's books so I better understand how LaTeX works in

First of all you need to decide what document class you use. I can recommend a koma-skript class
because it is highly customizable. Also the memoir
