I have seen such things when the text for the footnote was still formatted
in some other style than standard. Try and select the text in the
footnote to make it standard, if it is not so.

standard paragraph environment, as suggested by the User's Guide, I get

to have a list of the variables used in my document, I make an index with
the nomenclature-package. Since a lot of the entries are very short, I would
like to have it in two columns. This is easy using multicols, but what is
difficult to have in the same time the header in only one column

Depends on which tt font you want to use. LyX can scale LuxiMono and BeraMono
via the Font GUI as of 1.5.0. Just adjust the scaling in the "Scale" widget
after the "Typerwriter" co
