If you want Tables and Tableaus (Tableaux? my spellchecker seems to
prefer the latter -- but then it doesn't believe spellchecker is a word)

followed by Table 3), it's easy.  Put \usepackage{caption} in the

In the other case, create a file myfloats.inc that is included in your layout

Float

Extension loo
NumberWithin none

ListName List of Tableaux

End

Have a look at stdfloats.inc for a model.

For 1.6, we could include this into the Linguistics module.

Adding a new class in Mac version

2008-09-06 Thread Martin Lesmana

Hi there,

I have followed the installation instruction here http://wiki.lyx.org/Mac/Mac
 (option 2)

to install tetex, ghostscript and imagemagick using fink.
And then I get the .dmg file for Lyx and drag that into my
applications folder.

I am happy that the standard stuffs works fine, however I am trying to
add this class file (uw-report.cls) that I have downloaded to show up
on Lyx.

Here is what I've done:
Placed uw-report.cls under /sw/share/texmf-local/tex/latex/uw-report/
Create a simple uw-report.layout file containing:

#% Do not delete the line below; configure depends on this
# \DeclareLaTeXClass[uw-report]{article (uw-report)}
# Input general definitions
Input stdclass.inc

and placed it in /sw/share/texmf-local/source/latex/uw-report/lyx/
layouts/

Ran texhash, reconfigured lyx, and then restarted it.

I have done this to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

PS.
FYI, I have managed to do this on my Windows installation of Lyx using
this instruction:

would try:

ImageMagick calls Ghostscript to do part of the conversion, so it's no
surprise you're getting the same error message both times. The no such
file message from convert may just mean that it didn't find an
intermediate file it was expecting from Ghostscript (the reference to
'ex1v2.eps' is probably just a reminder which source file was being
processed when the universe imploded).

I can't read Ghostscript dumps, but it would not surprise me if
'/undefined in cmmi10' means that the EPS file contains a character that
does not exist in the cmmi10 font. Are there any funny characters
used in the plot? Would you care to post ex1v2.eps to the list, where
we can take a look at it?

OT: post-process postscript or PDF document to add page numbering and footer

2008-09-06 Thread Jeremy C. Reed
Off topic:

I am looking for a solution to add running page numbering to a postscript
or PDF document and maybe add a footer or header (maybe with a horizontal
rule).

Any tools or suggestions would be appreciated. Or if you know of a good
forum or mailing list to discuss this, please let me know.

Thanks!

The original roff documents use various different roff macros all in one
book compilation -- the page numbering keeps resetting because they are
using different macros. Post-processing the PDF or postscript seems to be
easier than converting the many documents to one macro style or to LyX or
LaTeX (especially since they continue to be maintained in their original
formats).

Here is what I've done:
Placed uw-report.cls under /sw/share/texmf-local/tex/latex/uw-report/
Create a simple uw-report.layout file containing:

#% Do not delete the line below; configure depends on this
# \DeclareLaTeXClass[uw-report]{article (uw-report)}
# Input general definitions
Input stdclass.inc

and placed it in /sw/share/texmf-local/source/latex/uw-report/lyx/
layouts/

Ran texhash, reconfigured lyx, and then restarted it.

I have done this to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

the Koma-script documentation, I tried adding the following to the
preamble.

\addtokomafont{chapterentry}{\rmfamily}

I also tried

\usekomafont{chapterentry}
\setkomafont{chapterentry}{\rmfamily}

I always get this error message You've told me to use the font
selection of the element, but either no such element is known by
KOMA-Script or the element does not use a special font selection.

Is there any way I can change that font??

chapterentry does not belong to the list of elements whose type style

would try:

\setkomafont{chapter}{\rmfamily}

Post-processing the PDF or postscript seems to be
easier than converting the many documents to one macro style or to LyX or
LaTeX (especially since they continue to be maintained in their original
formats).

In the other case, create a file myfloats.inc that is included in your layout
file and has a content such as this:

Float
Type tableau
GuiName Tableau
Placement tbp
Extension loo
NumberWithin none
Style plain
ListName "List of Tableaux"
LaTeXBuiltin false
End

Have a look at stdfloats.inc for a model.

For 1.6, we could include this into the Linguistics module.

On my system, opensuse 11.0 with kde, all dialog box are open in "full screen"

 In rc1 this not happen.
Is impossible work with search and replace with this behaviour.

Little bugs in rc1 remains in rc2:
 a) tools bar in vertical mode at the sides of the screen go down when I stop
and run Lyx.
 b) first open of a file with paragraph with no indentation and that start with
an ERT show it superpossed to the text.

 Feature request:
 a) I want a doc help with inline completion instructions. I have not clear
idea how work it.
 b) In early version of version control I have an option for check changes one
by one. I have not see it in 1.6.0 version.

I have no idea how to make this with koma-script options but you get total

Ran texhash, reconfigured lyx, and then restarted it.

I have done this to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

convert: Postscript delegate failed `ex1v2.eps': No such file or directory.
convert: missing an image filename `a.pdf'.

ImageMagick calls Ghostscript to do part of the conversion, so it's no
surprise you're getting the same error message both times. The "no such
file" message from convert may just mean that it didn't find an
intermediate file it was expecting from Ghostscript (the reference to
'ex1v2.eps' is probably just a reminder which source file was being
processed when the universe imploded).

I can't read Ghostscript dumps, but it would not surprise me if
'/undefined in cmmi10' means that the EPS file contains a character that
does not exist in the cmmi10 font. Are there any "funny" characters
used in the plot? Would you care to post ex1v2.eps to the list, where
we can take a look at it?

LyX 1.6rc2 crashes when navigating in the outline panel (MAC OS X)

2008-09-06 Thread George G. Szegö

Hi there,

I'd just like to report that LyX version 1.6rc2 repeatedly crashes when
trying to open child documents from a master document by clicking in
the toggle outline panel (see details from the Apple's crash reporter in
the attached file).

Besides this minor problem I am loving the features of this new version.
Congratulations for all of those involved.

Thanks a lot,
George

OT: post-process postscript or PDF document to add page numbering and footer

2008-09-06 Thread Jeremy C. Reed
Off topic:

I am looking for a solution to add running page numbering to a postscript
or PDF document and maybe add a footer or header (maybe with a horizontal
rule).

Any tools or suggestions would be appreciated. Or if you know of a good
forum or mailing list to discuss this, please let me know.

Thanks!

The original roff documents use various different roff macros all in one
book compilation -- the page numbering keeps resetting because they are
using different macros. Post-processing the PDF or postscript seems to be
easier than converting the many documents to one macro style or to LyX or
LaTeX (especially since they continue to be maintained in their original
formats).

I think possibly pdftk might do it. Google pdftk.
