I tried out several of them and the one that comes closest is the one above with changing the greyedout's color. Is there any way to also change the background color in addition to the text color for a greyedout note? I also liked the Branches idea that Guenter suggested but the coloring for the insets only shows in the LyX window not in the output. But it still is a cool way of turning comments on or off throughout the document.

Re: question about ERT inset in LyX1.6
Adding the attached module produces a classic decoration and disables the buttons on the extras toolbar, but the font is still the default (typewriter appeared in previous versions) and the text is not TeX code. bug: page break change not identified as change
Hi, when right-clicking on a new page dotted border within a document after just saving it, and changing the new page border to another type does not mark the document as modified so that the Save button would work. Instead, the save button remains grayed out. (Lyx 1.6.1)
Re: And where do I put my new module file?
Richard, I think there's a point to bundled documents, like Apple does it with their .pages things. But for me, it doesn't need to be so bundled. All the stuff in the same directory is quite enough for me. I have dropbox synchronize the directory and everything's fine. Only if I have to change things outside my document directory, like modifying several lyx and latex installations, things become tricky. lack of automatic table cell wrapping
I am trying to generate a lyx document from a script, and came across lyx which seemed like a perfect fit because the ASCII syntax made it simple to write a script that could generate a pretty-printable document. However, I am being hampered by a lack of automatic table cell wrapping (that, and I last used latex 20 years ago, so creating a layout is more of a hassle than I would prefer). From what I have been able to discover from the web, latex will only wrap table cells if a fixed width has first been specified by the user. This seems wrong, since no one would want a table to extend past the page margin. Not knowing the internals of either latex or lyx, I was wondering why a simple algorithm of selecting the optimal layout amongst those that had the minimal row count wasn't implemented? The implementation itself seems fairly straightforward as one could consider each column in isolation to compute those critical widths at which the row count was affected, and then combine the columns to determine the optimal widths.
