I agree this is not really satisfactory but this feature never was really satisfactoryto begin with. At least now we are at the same level as 1.5. Abdel.

Unfortunately, I could not find the answers to my problems in the mail archive. Maybe one of you could give me a hint how to go on? Goal: I would like the citation within the text to look as the following example: “ ...the teacher is aware of what NATION called a “balanced language course” (c.f. p. 3 Nation, 2001)...” The bibliography of a monography should look like the following example does: Baddeley, A. (1990) Human Memory, London: Lawrence Erlbaum Associates. or for an article: Bahrick, H. P. and Phelps E. (1987) ´Retention of Spanish vocabulary over 8 years´, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory and Cognition, 13, 344-349. Problems: I assume that “Jurabib” would be they correct style of citation for my purposes. Unfortunately Lyx produces follwing error message: Undefined control sequence You can´t use ´\relax´ after \the Does anyone know a solution for that problem? I'd suggest you post a file that has this problem. As small as possible. One possibility is that there is an error somewhere in the BibTeX file. rh

Thank you, Liviu This is an issue with the maketitle command lyx uses to create the titlepage when you specify title, author, etc... In the article class and some others the titlepage is by default not on a single page without numbering, but there is an option you can pass to the class in the document>preferences dialog. There you can set the class-option "titlepage" (just add it to the empty line) and everything will be fine, you can even omit the newpage. Regards, Florian

I suppose it will work if you keep to either LaTeX macro or inputenc. * convert the LaTeX file to latin1 or unicode \"a -> ä and use the correct inputenc option, or * convert the file to ASCII ä -> \"a and remove the inputenc call. LyX 1.6.2 numbering: cannot remove nr on first page
Dear all, There is a numbering issue in 1.6.2. I've encountered it in several classes (article, article (paper), etc.). To replicate, create a new file, enter some info in title, author, and ERT \pagestyle{empty}, insert `new page' add some more standard text (see attached file). This results in the numbering being displayed on the first page, but not on subsequent. Can anyone suggest a workaround to this? Thank you, Liviu newfile1-1st_page_nr_bug.lyx Description: Binary data
Umlaut import, again
I am sorry to have to return to this issue, since I thought I had a solution. It turns out that this solution (\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} ) works ONLY on my home machine (Windows XP sp3-miktex 2.7), but not on my 2 office machines (Windows XP-sp3 miktex 2.7 and kubuntu 8.10 with livetex). On the office machines I still am getting the error: Unknown parameter name {a}ssle because I have an a with an umlaut. It seems like a small problem, but it will make my life MUCH easier if I knew how to import Latex files with umlauts in them. Thanks, EK

I don't think you need LyX for this. If you're generating reports, do it with a quick web front end, some Perl or Python or whatever, and LaTeX->PDF. Very easy. Re: Open .lyx document on different computer and have graphics be okay
ad_ke wrote: Hi, I'm a new :LyX user and I love it. However, I can't figure out how to make the document portable. I keep each document in a project that includes each figure, but when I open the file up on a new machine, within that same project folder, all the figures are gone. All that is there is the name of the file, and a "loaded into memory. Generating ...". This stinks when there are a lot of images in the document. There must be a solution to this. If you get the "loaded into memory" message, I'm pretty sure LyX is finding the image files ok. It's liable to be a problem with ImageMagick (or maybe LyX's communication with ImageMagick) on the second machine. I have an intermittent problem with image display in LyX 1.6.1 on my home PC (Win XP). Sometimes the images in a document will display in the GUI, and sometimes the same document will show a bunch of "Generating ..." messages but no images. Note that in all cases LyX finds the images, and they display properly in the output (PDF or DVI), just not in the GUI. I haven't had time to track down the issue. Maybe this is what you're running into. In my case, sometimes closing and reopening the document alleviates the problem. /Paul
retrive from Database
Dear LyX, Right now we are generating the pdf reports using Jasper (nearly 120 reports) and we are planning to migrate into Lyx. Is it possible? We have a parameterised reports and subreports. if possible then how will connect to database and how to write the queries in LyX ? Please let me know. I would appreciate if you provide the quick response. Thanks Now surf faster and smarter ! Check out the new Firefox 3 - Yahoo! Edition http://downloads.yahoo.com/in/firefox/
