Re: question regarding LyX's placement of hyperref
Venable schrieb: I have a small question about the way LyX places hyperref among other packages. From exporting LyX files to plain latex, it appears that LyX does not place hyperref last among the packages, as recommended in the hyperref manual. This is innocuous 99% of the time but has in my experience caused problems for some more esoteric packages such as bibentry or endfloat. It is impossible to find a location for hyperref, so that it worjks in every case. So we've chosen the place that should work in most cases. A simple workaround is to hand-code \usepackage{hyperref} (with whatever options) into the LaTeX preamble rather than using the PDF Properties pulldown menu. However, since the pulldown menu is very convenient, I'm wondering if there's a way to customize LyX to place hyperref in the right place. The feature to be able to customize the package placement is in planning. regards Uwe
Layout file for Problem Set Solutions (making layout for hmcpset.cls)
Hi Everyone. Could someone please help me in trying to make a LyX .layout file for mathematical problem set solutions? I was really hoping to create something like the Harvey Mudd College Problem Set Distribution, available here: http://www.math.hmc.edu/computing/suppo ... s/hmcpset/ Download it, and you'll see that it's excellent! It provides one latex class file called hmcpset.cls, a template, and an example. Open the example in your favorite LaTeX editor, compile it with pdflatex, and you'll see what I mean... really a great interface for typing the solutions. I followed the instructions on making a .layout for LyX from a .cls, and made this hmcpset.layout file: - #% Do not delete the line below; configure depends on this # \DeclareLaTeXClass[hmcpset,article]{homework (Harvey Mudd Problem Set)} # DescriptionBegin # 2009/10/1 HMC Problem Set class in LyX # DescriptionEnd Input article.layout - Unfortunately, none of the environments from hmcpset.cls find their way into LyX. Must I hard code these myself in the layout file, or is there a way to get the same thing into LyX without coding them? In particular, I think I have to recode all of the environments (like \begin{problem} \end{problem}, \begin{solution} ... \end{solution}), and I don't know how to do that. Furthermore, I'd like to avoid doing it because that's really the only thing the .cls file provides! Thus, could some kind soul either: (a) Show me how to do this and/or easily convert the hmcpset.cls file to a valid layout, with the same environments and all, or (b) Point me in the right direction in terms of a .layout for doing problem sets? This would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Seriously you'll be my new favorite person. Thanks for your help. - Adam
Re: BUG - Unable to view User Guide in PDF or PS
Uwe, Reconfiguring does not resolve the problem. I get the same symptoms. I gave the wrong source of lyx file below. The lyx file that is giving me the problem is the User's Guide fetched via the Help tab, not the web site indicated below. So the bug still exists. Maybe the lyx file that comes with the program is faulty. As workaround I'm using the merged 1.6.4/Manuals.pdf file from http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Manuals Thanks Jim Uwe Stöhr wrote: James Ronback schrieb: When I fetch the User's Guide from [http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Manuals (sic)] the Help tab and attempt to view the The LyX User's Guide by the LyX TeamVersion 1.6.x as a PDF file by clicking on the PDF icon (View pdflatex) I get the following error message: tex\latex\subfig\subfig.sty is missing: So your LaTeX installation misses the package subfig.
Problems when I try to insert a graph into Lyx
Hi everyone! I'm using the last version of Lyx for Mac (OS: Snow Leopard).. I have a graph in jpeg format (but I also tried with a gif format and many many others) and I want to insert it into Lyx.. I go in "Insert"-->"Graphics" and browse the file. Then, Lyx displays the graph correctly but when I create the pdf (pdflatex) I get this error: LaTeX Error: Unknown option `dvialw' for package `graphics'. ...and in the description box: \if !\...@driver! The option `dvialw' was not declared in package `graphics', perhaps you misspelled its name. Try typingto proceed. ->Any advise? I'm getting quite desperate! Thanks in advance! By the way, I just ported my CV from OpenOffice to Lyx, and I'm really amazed by the way you can get precise layout control using tables. It's a bit a pain to do it this way, but not that much, and I more and more fail to perceive the added value of software such as OpenOffice / MS Word. The only thing that I found to be a real pain is using Libertine / Biolinum fonts. Haven't figured out yet how to do it. -- Guillaume Yziquel http://yziquel.homelinux.org/
