It seems that inserting notes into a Lyx file while tracking changes
modifies the color of some parts of the text in the pdf output to blue,
misleading the reader to believe that the blue text is new insertions,
while it is not. This is true of both 1.6.4 (on Kubuntu 9.10, 64 bit)
and 1.6.5 (Windows XP).

Is this a bug? It certainly is not a helpful feature!

According to Leslie Lamport, (Latex, second edition, p.97), the
difference is as follows.

The \newpage command is the analogue of \newline, creating a page that
ends prematurely, just at that point. Even when a \flushbottom
declaration is in effect, a shortened page is produced. The \clearpage
command is similar to \newpage, except that any leftover figures or
tables are put on one or more separate pages with no text.

Actuarial symbols in LyX

2010-01-23 Thread biggi

Hello, I'm a newbie in LyX and LaTeX, I'm writing a thesis in actuarial
science.
I'm using LyX 1.6.4.1 on Mac OS X Version 10.5.6.
I wanted to write this http://n2.nabble.com/file/n4446250/Bild%2B9.png
I found this:
http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/symbols/comprehensive/symbols-a4.pdf

Please take a look at page 108.

I exported my LyX document in *.tex and then I pasted the code from the pdf
in the tex file. Then I saved the tex file and I import it back. Then LyX
always crashed down.

Can somebody tell me what to do? I am really thankful if someone can put the
code in the right area and send me a LyX file... that would be very, very
awesome.

If my e-mail address is not visible, here it is: tutorin {at} gmail {dot}
com

Thank you very much! :-)

I do not have actuarial class installed, so I cannot test it. But you
may try the attached LyX file. Normally you should be able to insert
pure LaTeX or TeX code in ERT boxes (Insert TeX Code).

Re: question about family fonts

If I choose Times Roman for roman font, what font I must to choose for sans
serif font If I want to obtain an aesthetically coherent aspect?

Linux Libertine is a very nice replacement for Times. It's also quite narrow,
so it's perfect for a two-column layout.

And it comes with a corresponding sans serif font (Biolinum).

Sincerely,

Wolfgang
