Printing problems.........

2010-01-28 Thread M-L

It doesn't rain but it pours.

My HP Deskjet F2280 all in one printer won't print landscape in
anything created by LyX either directly from LyX or from a .pdf file
that LyX created.

I see on the Hewlett Packard webspace that another person is having
problems with the same printer when trying to print landscape documents
created by LaTeX, on an Ubuntu system.

He said that an OpenOffice landscape document will print. I haven't
tried it yet.

But no solution was found. So who's problem? LyX or HP and making it
mine?

I would guess that you would have the same problem when exporting to
LaTeX and compiling the document manually, but it is worth checking.

If so, then the problem is not with LyX but either with pdflatex or with
HP or with some combination thereof, or perhaps with whatever is
converting the PDF to a format the DeskJet will recognize.

Beamer: First (title and authors) frame repeated at the end

2010-01-28 Thread Mariano Llamedo Soria
Hi, just in case anyone knows how to put the same frame of title and authors
at the end of a presentation in Lyx.

Googling around, I found that Christian Bustamante had the same problem some
time ago ...

http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg75072.html

Hi all,

I'm using the beamer class and I need to repeat the first slide at the
end of presentation. In plain LaTeX one can do the following

\documentclass{beamer}
\title[Short title]{The title}

\author[Authors]{Author 1 \and Author 2}
\date{\today}
\begin{document}
\begin{frame}[label=firstframe]
\titlepage
\end{frame}
...
\againframe{firstframe}
\end{document}

Which uses the againframe command. The thing is, how can I label the

first slide for then use the againframe in LyX?

Thanks for the info, I'll fix this for the next release.

I possibly incorrectly assume it should read:

\rowcolor{cyan}

Discovered this while getting more adventuress and trying to colour a
row. But it doesn't work with either spelling for me.

Table 2.15 of the EmbedddedObjects manual shows that it works. When you
change there cyan to e.g. red, you will get the first row in red.

Re: question about family fonts

2010-01-28 Thread Marcelo Acuña
 Three simple steps:

 * Open the document in LyX and set
 DocumentSettingsFonts to [Default].

 * find a font in the font catalogue (http://www.tug.dk/FontCatalogue/)

 * Copy the Usage line(s) to DocumentSettingsLaTeX
 preamble

 This assumes that the font in question is installed in your
 system.
 Installing LaTeX fonts might be simple or not, depending on
 your LaTeX
 distribution and the particular font.
 (Ask again, if necessary, giving OS, LaTeX disto and
 font.)

Thanks Günter.
I have Debian Lenny with Tex-Live.
I chose Libertine.
I download the zip file from CTAN and put files in dir tree and run texhash.
I put in preamble the Usage lines.
I get a blank document with pdflatex.
With DVI I get a document without accented letters and several problems. (It
shines quite ugly.)
