we guarantee not to change fileformat for stable releases, ie from 2.0.0.

 What about branches?

Yes. But I'd go for a less convoluted implementation:

You can use branch that contains only '%' in ERT and that you add right
in front of the figure includes. When compiling the normal document,
you disable the branch. When you need to comment out the figures, you
 enable the branch.

This relies on the fact that the figure include maps to just one line
of source code.

Why not just put the figures (and all related material) into a branch
that is active by default but inactive for the generation of the
no-figures source?

export to HTML, math equation quality

2011-04-01 Thread Jong Kook Shin

Hi,

I want to have high resolution images (300ppi?) of math equations when I
export my lyx files into html, which will ultimately be converted to
MSword file.
Currently, it seems that the math equations and other figures are
converted to 72ppi. For screen display, it works perfect but I need this
ultimately for printing. Googling or search the mailing archive did not
find a satisfactory solution to address this issue.

Just FYI, I tried exporting with many other formats - e.g. often
recommended open office or rtf, etc. But they did not produce
satisfactory results.

I would be much obliged if somebody can provide a hint to this issue.

Best,
Jong

I'm confused about the question, though. ALL LyX releases are forward
compatible with later releases, in the sense that any file created with
ANY LyX release is intended to be openable in ANY later release, with no
user intervention. Backward compatibility is a different issue, but here
again EVERY LyX release is supposed to be capable of exporting a file
readable by EVERY earlier LyX release, and the lyx2lyx script can in
fact produce ANY file format, even the intermediate ones.

I don't know if it's a good idea to use this document as a starting
point. It is full of LaTeX code in the preamble which I wouldn't want to
touch. You might be better off by just starting a new document.

But to solve your first error, remove this:

\renewcommand{\textcolor}[2]{%
\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{blue}}{{\versal{#2}}}{}% Versalien
\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{cyan}}{{\versalomat{#2}}}{}% Weitere
%\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{magenta}\or\equal{#1}{blue}}{}{#2}% fallthrough
}

From the preamble of that file. You find the preamble from the menu
Document Settings... LaTeX preamble

Good luck,
Julien

 That's strange indeed.

Some time ago I've used 10.6.6 and got crashes with LyX + divvy.
Now I'm upgraded to 10.6.7 LyX doesn't crash but divvy adjusts only LyX
 position anymore.

When trying cinch + LyX on 10.6.7 cinch rejects to operate on LyX - see
 the screenshot.

I'd say these advanced window manager stuff shouldn't crash LyX but it's
 not LyX fault.
The best I can do is to build another LyX with Qt-4.7.1 or 4.7.2 and see
 what happens.
But there are other drawbacks of this Qt-Library we don't really have
 solved.

How to obtain the path of the lyxfile from tex?

2011-04-01 Thread Sean Wendt
I am writing a preprocessor, to look up words from a custom inset in a
dictionary, write the result to a file and include it at the end of each
page.
I enabled -enable-write18 and tested it at the command line, LyX however
moves the compilation to a temporary directory (on Windows7) from which I
can access my preprocessor script (which I keep together with the lyx file)
only via an absolute path.

Does LyX store the path to the current file somewhere accessible from Tex
code?

Another not-so-helpful datapoint here: I don't have any special extra
applications running that I'd expect would interact with LyX in a way
that would cause these crashes. Nonetheless, sometime between RC1 and
RC2, my own builds of LyX was crashing on me fairly regularly, though
I wasn't able to find any clear pattern to it. Starting just before
RC2 until R38178 (the most recent I've compiled), things have been
getting better, and things now seem pretty good. But RC2 was crashing
all too frequently.

\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{cyan}}{{\versalomat{#2}}}{}% Weitere
%\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{magenta}\or\equal{#1}{blue}}{}{#2}% fallthrough
}

From the preamble of that file. You find the preamble from the menu
Document Settings... LaTeX preamble

Good luck,

It seems that the problem might have to do with Qt as well (seeing QtGui).

Can you try other Qt apps as well ?

Yes. But I'd go for a less convoluted implementation:

ALL LyX releases are "forward
compatible" with later releases, in the sense that any file created with
ANY LyX release is intended to be openable in ANY later release, with no
user intervention. Backward compatibility is a different issue, but here
again EVERY LyX release is supposed to be capable of exporting a file
readable by EVERY earlier LyX release, and the lyx2lyx script can in
fact produce ANY file format, even the intermediate ones.

What about branches?

Yes. But I'd go for a less convoluted implementation:

You can use branch that contains only '%' in ERT and that you add
right

in front of the figure includes.

Yes, this is exactly what I ended up doing, and it worked perfectly.

Koma script error

2011-04-01 Thread Y.Wu
Hi,

I have got the following error, when I remove some blue color characters.
Could you plz tell me how to fix this?

 \renewcommand{\textcolor}

Try typing to proceed.

If that doesn't work, type X to quit.

Besides, how can I specify color to the text, say I want "HELLO" to be blue?

Thanks a lot.
(I am using Koma script)

I am modifying this template

When I remove the blue phase WYSIWYM, there will be an error.
So I have to keep at least one instance of this phase somewhere in my

Thanks a lot.

I don't know if it's a good idea to use this document as a starting
point. It is full of LaTeX code in the preamble which I wouldn't want to
touch. You might be better off by just starting a new document.

But to solve your first error, remove this:

\renewcommand{\textcolor}[2]{%
\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{blue}}{{\versal{#2}}}{}% Versalien
\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{cyan}}{{\versalomat{#2}}}{}% Weitere
%\ifthenelse{\equal{#1}{magenta}\or\equal{#1}{blue}}{}{#2}% fallthrough
}

From the preamble of that file. You find the preamble from the menu
Document > Settings... > LaTeX preamble

Good luck,

That's strange indeed.

Some time ago I've used 10.6.6 and got crashes with LyX + divvy.
Now I'm upgraded to 10.6.7 LyX doesn't crash but divvy adjusts only LyX
position anymore.

When trying cinch + LyX on 10.6.7 cinch rejects to operate on LyX - see the
screenshot.

I'd say these advanced window manager stuff shouldn't crash LyX but it's not
LyX fault.
The best I can do is to build another LyX with Qt-4.7.1 or 4.7.2 and see what
happens.
But there are other drawbacks of this Qt-Library we don't really have solved.

It seems that the problem might have to do with Qt as well (seeing QtGui).

Can you try other Qt apps as well ?

And if possible on a Mac with OS X 10.6.7 - the latest patch release?
As I said, until I upgraded from 10.6.6 I got the crashes with LyX + divvy
too and now - with 10.6.7 - it doesn't happen anymore.

When trying to resize LyX instead of the crash on 10.6.7
the position is changed and the size is not.

There is \jobname, but it doesn't give you the path. Maybe the
currfile package [1]?
