limit control error

2011-04-27 Thread Charles Reichert
Hello Lyx,
I have a problem, I finally was able to get my n-to-infinity directly
underneath the word lim using EditMathchange limit typesDisplay.
The problem is I cant get it to DVI or PDF because I get the following
error: Limit Controls must follow a math operator.
I want my n-to-infinity arrow to be directly underneath the word lim,
instead of in-line.
How do I ignore the arrow, unless there is a preset limit operator, like
summation or integral that I don't see.
Thanks
Charles

In many context, the output is equivalent. However, LyX's quote inset takes
care of some things. It assures that the quote is not mistaken as a shortcut
(as in ?`). And it takes care that single quotes (as opposed to apostrophes)
are not passed to the spell checker.

However, I use myself now csquotes and »« as active character exclusively. It

download the current eu.po (http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/trunk/po)

you take the problematic string in layouttranslation file and search
for this string (quotes included) in your .po file. then you fix the translation

once done, send me the eu.po file and i will generate layouttranslation

Hi Teguh. In the bibtex file (the one created with jabref) it isn't possible
to do so, as the word and is a command. I think that if you defined the
language as Indonesian in your document, and there is an indonesian
translation in babel, it will be automatically switched to dan.

Best regards.

PS: BTW, how funny that in such differente languages as indonesian and
english, the word uses the same three letters. :D

Self-contained lyx documents

2011-04-27 Thread Niko Schwarz
Hi guys,

I managed to write an article in lyx in sig-alternate style. I had to
copy the class into my tex installation, run texhash, install some
layout into ~/Library/Application Support/LyX-2.0/layouts. And that's
fine. And then my coworker wanted to see what I'd done, so I sent him
the directory. And now he had to repeat all of my steps.

Guys, I don't mind some hassle to use non-standard classes in my
document. But it makes a huge difference to me if the hassle occurs
for me only (that's fine), or for every coworker (that isn't!).

Please, can't you encapsulate all of the hassle into lyx modules, and
allow lyx modules that are in the same directory as the lyx file? Or
better yet: inside the lyx file?

In input: Alt+ will produce correct single quotation marks. With LyX 2.0
and
advanced search/replace, you can directly replace ' by real single
 quotation mark insets.

Fantastic, thanks! This is really useful. You can even make it the default by
adding to your user.bind file:

\bind apostrophe quote-insert single

And if you still want access to the normal straight apostrophe:

\bind C-apostrophe self-insert apostrophe

And Enrico's solution to this is (will shortly be) available already in
2.0. You'll find it under FileExportLyX Archive. I'm not sure if it
includes used modules and layouts, though, since those do have to be
installed into the right place.

Niko was asking about two different things:

As you say, this is not a LyX issue.

2. He had to install a LyX module before he could use it in a LyX document.

If you want to keep your layout internal, then this is also already
possible in 2.0. Look under DocumentSettingsLocal Layout.

Bug with label and multiline

Dear All,

Please, do the following:

1. open a multiline AMS box;
2. write a equation;
3. insert the label 'eq:01' into your equation;
4. press control+enter;
5. try now to change the label again to 'eq:01'?

Can you see a suffix to be appended to your new label without your
consent? LyX presumes that the label is duplicated, but it is not in
fact the case, it seems to me.

I am using lyx-2.0.0-0.21.rc3.fc14.x86_64.

Thanks in advance,

As David says, this is only a display problem in LyX. If you when you preview
the file as a PDF everything looks OK, eventhewordsstucktogether, then this is
a
known bug. It's fixed in LyX 2.0.0, which comes out very soon.

In the meantime, you try other screen fonts (in ToolsPreferences), some of
which might not suffer so badly from this problem. This won't affect the PDF
output, which instead uses the font in DocumentSettings.

On the other hand, if you see the problem even in the PDF, and you're sure you
entered spaces, please file a bug.

Hi Teguh. In the bibtex file (the one created with jabref) it isn't possible to
do so, as the word and is a command. I think that if you defined the language
as Indonesian in your document, and there is an indonesian translation in
babel, it will be automatically switched to dan.

Best regards.

PS: BTW, how funny that in such differente languages as indonesian and english,
the word uses the same three letters. :D

limit control error

It assures that the quote is not mistaken as a shortcut

are not passed to the spell checker.

However, I use myself now csquotes and »« as active character exclusively. It

download the current eu.po (http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/trunk/po)

you take the problematic string in layouttranslation file and search
for this string (quotes included) in your .po file. then you fix the translation
in msgstr entry (delete line with fuzzy string if its there).

once done, send me the eu.po file and i will generate layouttranslation

Niko

 From: Jürgen Spitzmüller sp...@lyx.org

In input: Alt+ will produce correct single quotation marks. With LyX 2.0
and
advanced search/replace, you can directly replace ' by real single
 quotation mark insets.

Fantastic, thanks! This is really useful. You can even make it the default by
adding to your user.bind file:

\bind apostrophe quote-insert single

And if you still want access to the normal straight apostrophe:

\bind C-apostrophe self-insert apostrophe

Well, I *guess* a LyX-only hack would be to put the LaTeX class in

And Enrico's solution to this is (will shortly be) available already in
2.0. You'll find it under FileExportLyX Archive. I'm not sure if it
includes used modules and layouts, though, since those do have to be
installed into the right place.

Niko was asking about two different things:

1. He had to install a LaTeX document class before he could use it with LaTeX

As you say, this is not a LyX issue.

2. He had to install a LyX module before he could use it in a LyX document.

If you want to keep your layout internal, then this is also already
possible in 2.0. Look under DocumentSettingsLocal Layout.

Bug with label and multiline

2011-04-27 Thread Paul Smith
Dear All,

Please, do the following:

1. open a multiline AMS box;
2. write a equation;
3. insert the label 'eq:01' into your equation;
4. press control+enter;
5. try now to change the label again to 'eq:01'?

Can you see a suffix to be appended to your new label without your
consent? LyX presumes that the label is duplicated, but it is not in
fact the case, it seems to me.

I am using lyx-2.0.0-0.21.rc3.fc14.x86_64.

Thanks in advance,

the file as a PDF everything looks OK, eventhewordsstucktogether, then this is
a

2011-04-27 Thread Charles Reichert
Hello Lyx,
I have a problem, I finally was able to get my n-to-infinity directly
underneath the word "lim" using Edit>Math>change limit types>Display.
The problem is I cant get it to DVI or PDF because I get the following
error: Limit Controls must follow a math operator.
I want my n-to-infinity arrow to be directly underneath the word "lim",
instead of in-line.
How do I ignore the arrow, unless there is a "preset" limit operator, like
summation or integral that I don't see.
Thanks

It
is very neat once you got used to it.

download the current eu.po (http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/trunk/po)

you take the problematic "string" in layouttranslation file and search
for this string (quotes included) in your .po file. then you fix the translation
in msgstr entry (delete line with "fuzzy" string if its there).

once done, send me the eu.po file and i will generate layouttranslation
from it.

if anything is unclear please ask more.

Niko

As I wrote in previous message, I'm updating Basque translation, and

I have found a serious bug for Basque. Some months ago, I send eu.po for

have not been feed with 1.6.x PO files, with oldest instead.

Please, could it be posible to wait some days until I'll fix this

"List of Tables" "Índice de Cuadros"

Also, there is an inconsistency which I don't know if it is the usual

"List of Algorithms" "Índice de algoritmos"
"List of Tableaux" "Índice de Tableaux"

while for:

"List of Charts" "Lista de diagramas"
"List of Graphs" "Lista de gráficos"
"List of Schemes" "Lista de esquemas"

Why this oddity?

Fantastic, thanks! This is really useful. You can even make it the default by
adding to your user.bind file:

\bind "apostrophe" "quote-insert single"

And if you still want access to the normal straight apostrophe:

\bind "C-apostrophe" "self-insert apostrophe"

Well, I *guess* a LyX-only hack would be to put the LaTeX class in

I'm not sure what you mean by "ignore the arrow", but yes, there is a

Yes, we have been working on this. Hopefully, this will be
implemented in LyX 2.1.

And Enrico's solution to this is (will shortly be) available already in
2.0. You'll find it under File>Export>LyX Archive. I'm not sure if it
includes used modules and layouts, though, since those do have to be
installed into the right place.

Niko was asking about two different things:

1. He had to install a LaTeX document class before he could use it with LaTeX
(which LyX uses).

As you say, this is not a LyX issue.

2. He had to install a LyX module before he could use it in a LyX document.

If you want to keep your layout "internal", then this is also already
possible in 2.0. Look under Document>Settings>Local Layout.

It is, I think.

I have taken this point of view:
"Índices" are the ordered lists that they can be *inserted* via the *Insert
menu*,
and they appear in the output of the document: "general" "de figuras"
"alfabético" etc.
This is consistent with the babel translation of list.

"Listas" are the other lists in po files that they can't be inserted in the
document.
They are used, e.g., in the Outline.

Therefore, in case of the lists mentioned by Julio, (part of chemical class,
thanks Pavel), probably they are inserted ones.
(I just know it, I have not used the ACS class, package achemso)

I have just installed LyX 2.0.0RC3 on my WinVista machine and
funnily all \text{...} in math code are displayed in Arabic. I
think my configs are alright.

Here another example where text both in \text{} and in \lebel{} is
displayed in Arabic.

\begin{equation}
\text{Tr}(\Lambda(\varphi))=\det(\varphi+\text{ID}_{V})\,.\label{eq:Trace
of external power}
\end{equation}

Problem does not exists with LyX 1.6.8.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Bug with label and multiline

2011-04-27 Thread Paul Smith
Dear All,

Please, do the following:

1. open a multiline AMS box;
2. write a equation;
3. insert the label 'eq:01' into your equation;
4. press control+enter;
5. try now to change the label again to 'eq:01'?

Can you see a suffix to be appended to your new label without your
consent? LyX presumes that the label is duplicated, but it is not in
fact the case, it seems to me.

I am using lyx-2.0.0-0.21.rc3.fc14.x86_64.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

launch lyx 2, open advanced search panel and insert regexp
via context or insert menu.
of you are able to write regexp you need...

As David says, this is only a display problem in LyX. If you when you preview
the file as a PDF everything looks OK, eventhewordsstucktogether, then this is
a
known bug. It's fixed in LyX 2.0.0, which comes out very soon.

In the meantime, you try other screen fonts (in Tools>Preferences), some of
which might not suffer so badly from this problem. This won't affect the PDF
output, which instead uses the font in Document>Settings.

On the other hand, if you see the problem even in the PDF, and you're sure you
entered spaces, please file a bug.

Hi Teguh. In the bibtex file (the one created with jabref) it isn't possible to
do so, as the word "and" is a command. I think that if you defined the language
as "Indonesian" in your document, and there is an indonesian translation in
babel, it will be automatically switched to "dan".

Best regards.

PS: BTW, how funny that in such differente languages as indonesian and english,
the word uses the same three letters. :D
