eps graphics fails when displaying in pdf mode if inserted by ERT \includegraphics
Hello, I'm having problem in LyX 2.0.0rc3 (ubuntu has some lag) with a very simple test document. I insert an eps file with Insert - Graphics and I can display the document as a pdf file (pdflatex) and as a ps file. That works fine, Then I add an ERT {\includegraphics{venn5.eps} and it works when displaying as ps file but viewing as pdf file gives me the error ! LaTeX Error: Unknown graphics extension: .eps. See the LaTeX manual or LaTeX Companion for explanation. Type H return for immediate help. ... l.17 {\includegraphics{venn5.eps} Try typing return to proceed. If that doesn't work, type X return to quit. How can I make LyX work with ERT and pdf? (Yes, I need ERT)

localizing lyx
Following the openrc update in gentoo amd64, all locale variables suddenly vanished. I created a /etc/env.d/02locale file which includes LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8. lyx loads with english menus. It's only after exporting LANG from .bashrc that I can launch it from a shell with its french menus. To achieve the same effect from KDE menu, I have to set the launch command to LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 lyx. My preference would be a global setting (as it used to be), as all users on my machine are french. I insert an eps file with Insert -> Graphics and I can display the document as a pdf file (pdflatex) and as a ps file. Type H for immediate help. ... l.17 {\includegraphics{venn5.eps} Try typingto proceed. If that doesn't work, type X to quit. How can I make LyX work with ERT and pdf? (Yes, I need ERT)

LaTeX Error: Unknown graphics extension: .eps. Well, I exported a LaTeX file and the difference was really just the four letters: .eps I removed them and, voilá, problem solved! So I'd like to re-phrase my original question: why isn't the filename extension .eps allowed? How can I solve that problem?

The folder the dialog box "New From Template" displays is configurable in user the preferences. Nada. ZIlch. Nought. Yes, these folders are for your personal work. At first they are empty. The problem is as I already explained in my other mail: we cannot have both the system and the user templates directories as start directory in a dialog. > > It would help if you could again be more specific: what aren't you > understanding? localizing lyx
Following the openrc update in gentoo amd64, all locale variables suddenly vanished. I created a /etc/env.d/02locale file which includes LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8". lyx loads with english menus. It's only after exporting LANG from .bashrc that I can launch it from a shell with its french menus. To achieve the same effect from KDE menu, I have to set the launch command to LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8" lyx. My preference would be a global setting (as it used to be), as all users on my machine are french. I have the same problem with most of the apps. Can you describe more detailed which cells I have to merge in your file and what borders incorrectly disappear? thanks and regards Uwe

I can confirm the bug. Nothing needs to be done to Francesco's file. The bottom border of the merged cell does not appear in the LaTeX output. I would expect \hline after the second row of the table, but the LaTeX output from LyX has \cline covering only the second and third columns. (I was using LyX 2.0 rc1 for this.) Paul

pdftex process on MAC OSX Lyx 2.0.0
I was wondering if other users have noticed that pdftex continues to run after one closes down Lyx 2.0.0 on MAC OSX. It consumes 100% of one of the CPUs on my machine, and I have to do a Forced Quit to stop it. I have tried this on two different machines, and am getting the same effect. I only noticed it when my music started to splutter and I found I had several pdftex process ruing consuming huge amounts of CPU when I was not running Lyx. pdftex process on MAC OSX Lyx 2.0.0 - more
Tried uninstalling Lyx 2.0.0 and reinstalled Lyx 1.6.10 and also 1.6.9. All doing the same thing (pdftex not closing and using 100% CPU), so it may be my system. Doing on two though. The parent process for pdftex is Python, whose parent in turn is Lyx. When Lyx closes down, Python closes but pdftex is not closing. Maybe there is some problem with my installation of Python. It appears to be using Python 2.6 Regards Bob Betz - Dr. Robert Betz Ampcontrol Professor of Power Engineering, Head, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, University of Newcastle, Australia, email: robert.b...@newcastle.edu.au FAX: +61-2-4921-6993 TEL: +61-2-4921-6091 Mobile: (+61)-(0)419249948 Web: http://eecsbobb.newcastle.edu.au/rebetz -
