I installed Lyx 2 on Windows 7 yesterday and got this exact same error. I
continued with the install, assuming I would need to install MikTeX after
Lyx had completed.

However, during the install I clicked on the details button and was able to
watch Lyx configure Latex (suggesting it had in fact downloaded MikTeX)
and indeed it is working fine, in spite of that error.

MiKTeX won't download with LyX

2011-07-05 Thread Michael Maltenfort
MiKTeX is supposed to download when I install LyX.  But not for me.

I have been trying to download LyX for the first time.  I am using Windows XP
and my computer does not have MiKTeX installed on it yet.

First I downloaded the installer (specifically, LyX-2.0.0-3-Installer), and
then I ran it.

I chose the defaults in installation ("Install for anyone using this computer",
then "Download MiKTeX", and the default destination folder, C:\Program
Files\LyX20).

The installer worked for a while successfully.  But when the installer window
showed "Downloading LaTeXSetup.exe", I got a popup window with the error
message

"Downloading MiKTeX failed.  Would you like to try again? (connecting to host)"

I then tried clicking "yes" and soon got a similar popup, though not
identical:

"Downloading MiKTeX failed.  Would you like to try again? (HTTP/1.1 404 Not
Found)"

I clicked "yes" several more times (getting one popup message or the other).
After I clicked "no", I ended with a copy of LyX which had no MiKTeX.

My computer is indeed connected to the Internet, so downloading MiKTeX
shouldn't be a problem.  I even tried waiting several days and then
re-installing LyX from the start (over the previously downloaded version).

1)  Why won't MiKTeX download automatically, and is this problem likely to be
fixed soon?

2)  Should I just download MiKTeX from another source?  Any suggestions from
where?  Once I do, should I re-install LyX, or is there a way to alert LyX to
the presence of the newly-downloaded MiKTeX?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Seen this occasionally myself with LyX v2.0 on Mac OS X 10.6.8. My
workaround is to make sure that the path is correct when I Add the
bibliography. I've not been able to reproduce it with any reproducible
steps. I simply try again.

Install lyx 2 in windows with 1.6.10

2011-07-05 Thread Waluyo Adi Siswanto
I have a fresh windows xp machine and already installed lyx-1.6.10
using altinstaller-complete (including miktex 2.9).
Is that possible to have lyx 2, while maintaining 1.6.10 in the machine.
If it is possible, which lyx 2 installer that I can use.

Thank you for any information

Problem with lyx 2 on Mac

2011-07-05 Thread sam

 Hi All,

I am encountering problem I never did with the previous lyx version for mac. I
use bibdesk to create my bibliography data and use insert ---> list/toc to
include file in the my document. This was perfectly working for all documents
creating in the previous version of lyx but doesn't work for documents created
in the new version. For old documents, it perfectly works even in the new
version of lyx. However, any new file I create in the new version can not read
the bibliography data. I checked the latex error message. It simply says
"undefined path"

I now want to go back to old lyx but it is not available for download.

Please help; this is very URGENT!!

Re: Icons

I had just discovered that-- are there icons that will not be shown if I
use the CLASSIC set?

(2) The emphasis-noun-apply last group: in each case the major part of
the icon is the letter A with a smaller distinguishing part. Perhaps
that should be reversed -- the distinguishing part enlarged and the A
reduced?

I agree that the icons should be distinctive even at first glace -- not only
for older eyes but also for small screens.

As a quick workaround, you can customize LyX to use the classic iconset.

Bibtex-References do not go on the next page, if one is full

2011-07-05 Thread Jakob Schlockermann
Hi folks,

I have the following problem with Lyx 2.0:

When creating a References list with my Bibtex-Database (which is
managed in Jabref), the references simply go down the whole first page
over the pagenumber and so on, until the last half of one entry can be
seen and then the page is over... this is obviously not a good
status...changing document class (I use normally koma-script) or the
references-list-design does not help, also deleting and creating new
does not change anything...

I had some stuff more in the latexthingy but now I have removed
everything except

\@ifundefined{rotatebox}
{\usepackage{graphicx}}{}

Still, no solution... does anyone have an idea?

Is a layout for Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society (class:

emulateapj.cls) ever been developed? If yes, would any of the two be
available?

Just replace the LyX folder of the LyteX folder with the new one.
