I would have expected, however, that the reduced spacing affects only the
part of the paragraph with small sized text.

A carriage return between normal and small sized text cures it, but that is
 not what I wanted.

It is shown both in Lyx and in the pdf output.

I am using Koma book under Debian.

Do others see the same and is there a way to avoid it besides making a
 small sized (sub)paragraph?

I remember that in TeX, some settings can only be changed per paragraph. I
don't know whether this also holds for line spacing.

OTOH, the spacing also depends on on which place the size-changing
commands are issued (in relation to line wrapping or hard line breaks).

One option/workaround would be to re-set the linespacing after the change of
size in ERT.

I would export the paragraph to LaTeX and experiment.

If this does not lead to a solution, please post a minimal working example
for others to try.

I guess Richard's suggestion was:

do not do: viewpdflatex,

***instead**

do: fileexport pdflatex

That would seem to solve your problem.

You may even open a pdf viewer with file watching capabilities on the
exported file before you start working on it and you'd enjoy the same
advantages as working on a file residing temp directory.

In fact, now that I think of, why isn't this LyX's standard behavior (as it
is, e.g., in Kile)?

Cheers,

Stefano

I guess Richard's suggestion was:

do not do: viewpdflatex,

***instead**

do: fileexport pdflatex

That would seem to solve your problem.

You may even open a pdf viewer with file watching capabilities on the
exported file before you start working on it and you'd enjoy the same
advantages as working on a file residing temp directory.

In fact, now that I think of, why isn't this LyX's standard behavior (as it

I remember that in TeX, some settings can only be changed per paragraph. I
don't know whether this also holds for line spacing.

OTOH, the spacing also depends on on which place the size-changing
commands are issued (in relation to line wrapping or hard line breaks).

One option/workaround would be to re-set the linespacing after the change of
size in ERT.

I would export the paragraph to LaTeX and experiment.

If this does not lead to a solution, please post a minimal working example
for others to try.

buffer-view pdf2

2012-03-29 Thread Anna Itkin
Hello,

I am using LyX version 1.6 under Windows.
When I want to view a pdf, I receive
no error message, but rather the status "buffer-view pdf2".
The strange thing is that this problem occurs with only one specific file
(which I did not have a problem viewing until today), all the other
files can be viewed as pdf. The preferences are set correctly otherwise
other documents would not be viewed as well.
I will greatly appreciate your help.

Well, this does give you a space, but it doesn't conform to typesetting
conventions,
because the text is treated as a bunch of variables. You can enter
math-text mode by
hitting Ctrl-M, then type normally. The font choices are also availalbe

Coloured Sidebar to highlight text passage?

2012-03-29 Thread Peter Baumgartner
Hello LyX-Community,

Is there a LaTeX/TeX command or package to produce a text sidebar which
could be changed in colour and width? I would need this to highlight text
passages (e.g. Definitions) for a textbook.

At the moment the only way I can think of to produce a sidebar would be a
tabular environment. I wonder if there is no other possibility, a feature
where I could define a new paragraph style or a similar easy usage.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Customize Copier in LyX

2012-03-29 Thread Xi Zhang
I am writing something using LyX in Windows.

I just want a simple funtion that every time I run pdfletex, the pdf file can

I know that this has been discribed in Customization.lyx as a simple example.

I don't have too much time to look into this and it will be highly appreciated
