LyX generates errors on eps and pdf files produced by Stata

2013-09-20 Thread Ly Tran
Hello,

I recently decided to use LyX to write my thesis, and everything was going
just fine until yesterday. I woke up, turned on my computer, and LyX no
longer recognizes the graphic files (eps) that were produced by Stata. I
tried to change it to pdf and other types, but nothing worked. LyX still
reads other graphic files (jpg, bmp) just fine. As I said, these files
showed up nicely the day before yesterday, so I am very puzzled as for what
happened to my computer overnight.

On LyX GUI, it says Error converting to loadable format. When I click
view, an error message shows up An error occured while running: epstopdf
-- outfile = [some path, I assume to my eps file]

If it was a pdf file, the error message is pdfTeX Error.

I looked for solutions online, but haven't found anything that works. I
also uninstalled everything (MikTeX, GhostScript, LyX), and then
reinstalled them, but still, the same error occurs. I am running LyX 2.0.6
on Windows 7.

I would really appreciate it if anybody could help me with this issue.
Thank you very much.

the possibility, I just tested it on my system. Following the instructions,
forward search seems to work fine, but not reverse search. I am using
Okular 0.16.5, pdflatex, and LyX 2.0.3. The forward search option shows,
and acts like it is working, but does not jump to the correct location (it
seems to go to the same place every time, no matter what).

 Hi Jacob,

with Okular 16.5 you seem to have the opposite problem than me. Just to be
sure, by forward search you mean jumping from Lyx to Okular, right? And
you jump to the right location in the pdf file, while you are unable to
jump back from the pdf to the right location in Lyx? (Sorry for asking, I
am always getting the forward and reverse switched in my mind).

Hi Stefano,

Sorry for the slow response. I also get the two mixed up sometimes. My
original response was incorrect. I am able to correctly jump from the .pdf
file in Okular to the corresponding position within LyX (reverse search). I
am not able to jump from the LyX file to the correct location in the .pdf
from within LyX (forward search).

I seem to have forward search (LyX - Ocular) working with Default Output
Format set to PDF(pdflatex) and Syncronize with Output set to \synctex = 1 but
nothing at all seems to happen when I try reverse search (Ocular - LyX).

What activation method works with reverse search? I've been using cntl-left
click (along with a few other random keystroke combinations) with no results at
all.
