You asked me to: "enable the Message pane and select the log messages
related to file and graphics processing, try the preview again and post the
resulting output here".
In the settings of the Message pane I enabled "Files used by LyX" and
"Graphics conversion and loading" as I thought they were the nearest
interpretations of your request.

Lyx 2.1.4
The Lyx Team, Have upgraded from 2.1.3 to 2.1.4 on MX14 Linux. Had an initial problem with a graphic being misplaced but this error disappeared after a reboot. All is now behaving. Many thanks for the work put into 2.1.4 Gordon Tauranga N.Z.

Hi Ed, it would be good to have a small LyX file + SVG file demonstrating the problem. The LyX file shouldn't contain any stuff not needed to produce the error.
