Dear Ross and Aaron,

Do you have any example files that you can send us that do not open for
you on newer versions of LyX? This could really help us fix bugs so that
future users do not run into similar problems.

Best,

Re: Cannot generate pdf when there is an underscore in the Note field of a reference in the bibliography

2016-03-10 Thread Joel Kulesza
Ken,

Can you attach a minimum working/failing example (MWE) to play with which
has just enough to show the behavior?

In the meantime, have you tried escaping the underscore (e.g., \_)? Very
likely it is being interpreted as a math-mode subscript.

Hope this helps.

Joel

Cannot generate pdf when there is an underscore in the Note field of a reference in the bibliography

2016-03-10 Thread Ken Allen
Thanks to anyone bothering to read this.

When generating a pdf, the process aborts with a latex error message:

Missing $ inserted.

I've inserted a begin-math/end-math symbol since I think
you left one out. Proceed, with fingers crossed.
---

This only occurs if there is an underscore in the note field of a reference
in the bibtex database. I have looked for hidden special characters in the
.bib file using the terminal command cat -TEA and found none. The underscore
has to be in the note field of the reference entry. Seems really odd.

I posted this to the bug list but was told to post it here.

I'm using:

Ubuntu 14.4 with the texlive in the Ubuntu ppa
Lyx 2.1.4
Natbib, style author-year
processor bibtex8
style apalike

I need to be able to produce a pdf of my document.

Thanks.
