Not the original poster, but this is something I can also see in my system
since a number of versions: during document editing, emphasized text is not
shown with the italic font chosen (in my case, Libertinus Serif), but with
a fake slanted font build from the roman typeface. This only affects the
editor, the PDF output works as intended.

Re: Italic font doesn't working properly

2020-03-07 Thread Stochastic Descent
Axel,

I am using Times New Roman. The problem is that in the first screenshot,
LyX didn't use the Italic variant of Times New Roman, instead, it slants
the regular Times New Roman font. The second screenshot is the desired
result.

Ben,

I'm not sure your screenshots are showing what you mean. On my screen,
everything is looking like italics. And please tell us which fonts you are
using for the display.

Re: LyX 2.3.x: how to insert externally generated code for table?

I guess that's is the only way to get the original output in this case
because LyX does not support double lines at the outer edges of tables
(only at the inner ones).

LyX uses single left/right/top/bottom lines to create double lines
(rather than setting single/double lines directly) which makes outer
double lines impossible.

It does so since it's easier to add a paragraph break than to remove
one (and you often don't want a paragraph break after lists and or
quotations).

Does someone have an idea?

Right-click on that separator inset and select "Paragraph break". (An
alternative would be to insert an empty note or ERT inbetween).

Jürgen

Thanks, that works. I guess the plain separator does basically nothing
in this case. Wouldn't it be better if that were visible in the
workarea, i.e. there is no indentation?

Daniel

Also, if I haven't overlooked it, there is no

1. way to insert those breaks via the menu (which also helps users to
see what's possible)

2. documentation about these.

BTW UI-wise I think it would make sense to insert a paragraph-break
separator (rather than a plain separator) on double-return in that case
(where a standard paragraph or a non-environment follows an
environment).

JMarc, this is your playground, isn't it?

Start new paragraph after list

2020-03-07 Thread Daniel
I am trying to start a new paragraph after a list but failed so far.
Attached is my attempt. In the LyX workarea it looks as I want but the
output differs.

Below is how one would create this in LaTeX. The empty line after the
first list starts the new paragraph. But for some reason LyX comments
out the empty line after the first list.

Does someone have an idea?
