Can't upgrade LyX on Focal Fossa
Hi all, I just updated my laptop from Linux Mint 19.3 (based on Ubuntu Bionic Beaver) to 20.0 (based on Ubuntu Focal Fossa). During the update, LyX 2.3.4.2 (the current version from the Canonical repo) was installed. I added Liv's PPA (with no error messages) and updated the cache, but Mint still thinks 2.3.4.2 is the most recent version. The PPA info looks correct to me ("http://ppa.launchpad.net/lyx-devel/release/ubuntu focal main"), so the only thing I can think of is a configuration glitch in the PPA. I noticed that the Focal version there ends with "~ppa2" rather than "~ppa1", but that's not unique to Focal so I doubt it's the problem. Is anybody else having problems upgrading to 2.3.5.1 for Focal via the PPA? Paul -- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users

Can you please provide some more information? Which operating system are you using? How exactly do you start LyX for the first time? E.g. on Windows there is a checkbox on the last page of the installer. Or do you simply launch the program like you would usually do? Which pdf viewer are you using? When I start LyX 2.3.5.2 for the first time, it tells me "security alert: ... started with elevated privileges" and the PDF is created but not shown (= failure to open). After a restart, everything is OK. Not really a bug, more a hiccup. Kind regards, Bernd -- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users
