I am unable to mimic the correct behavior visible in the pdfLatex export produce by Lyx. I believe this has been solved for 2.4.0. In 2.3.x, yes, there's no way to mimic the LaTeX output. (i) Someone who has one of these things is able to compile the source and produce the binaries. It would take a bit to get the build environment set up properly, but once that's done, I don't think it's that hard. (ii) It becomes possible to cross-compile for M1 on, say, Linux. At the moment, that does not seem to be possible, and maybe there are reasons it will never be. Apple does not seem terribly supportive of that kind of effort. LyX on Apple silicon?
LyX folk, Two questions: 1. Has anyone run the current MacOS LyX binaries on any of the new “Apple silicon” Macs equipped with M1 chips (hence, via Rosetta 2 emulation)? Reviews I’m seeing suggest that the vast majority of Intel binaries will run with no problems and, indeed, will be at least as fast or even faster despite the emulation layer. It would be great to get confirmation of this for LyX (hence also for TeX). 2. What are the plans for creating native LyX binaries for these new Macs? Thanks.
