If I'm understanding: type "\\cdot". That will render "\cdot" in text.

\text{ \cdot }

2023-01-25 Thread Dan
When I type \text{ \cdot } into the math compiler it gives me the little
dot, not the text "\cdot". How do I fix this? I'm writing a MathJax
tutorial and I need to be able to put the codes in an array.

Here's a sample of the code:
\begin{array}{|l|l|}
\hline
\text{Symbol} & \text{Code} \\
+ & + \\
- & - \\
\text{ * } & \text{ * } \\
\cdot & \text{ \cdot} \\
\times & \text{ \times} \\
/&/ \\
\div & \text{ \div } \\
\hline
\end{array}

(The really weird part about this is that MathJax simply refuses the
command line entirely.)

Thanks!

For some reasons that I cannot explain.
After probably a mistake!
Now, I cannot apply any modification in the preferences.
as well I cannot
change a font size for example: after I apply, it automatically come back
to default !

Did I locked some sort of configuration file?

A4 landscape ps2pdf

2023-01-25 Thread Patrick Dupre
Hello,

I have a file in A4 landscape format which provides the right output if I
use ctlrR (viewing)
If I use ps2pdf (with option ps2pdf -dALLOWPSTRANSPARENCY  -dNoSafer $$i $$o)
the generated pdf file has a portrait form.

How can I fix this?

Thank.

This definitely appears to be a Ventura thing. I can’t insert graphics on my
2021 MacBook Pro using either 2.3.6.2 or 2.3.7 but both versions work just fine
on my old iMac under Big Sur. You can mitigate the pain of the kludgy
workaround a little bit by locating your desired graphic in the Finder, right
clicking and selecting “Get Info”. This will bring up an info window that
contains the full Unix path to the containing directory that you can copy and
paste into the “file:” field in the LyX pop-up for inserting graphics. You’ll
still have to type in the file name, but the process is still easier than
typing in the whole path, especially if you use cloud storage, which buries
your files pretty deeply under your home directory.

Alternatively, run LyX under Linux in a Parallels VM — it’s quite a bit faster
than the MacOS universal binary and doesn’t suffer from this bug.
