Track Changes with Word
I am helping someone edit their book that is currently in Microsoft Word format. I imported it into LyX to work on it. What is a good way for me to give feedback? Can I track changes and at least export a pdf that highlights my changes? Or can I put LyX notes in my copy and print out somehow and have the notes show up? -jack -- ~~~ Jack Desert --Writer, Entrepeneur Author and Spokesman: www.LetsEATalready.com Software Developer: http://GrooveTask.org Email: jackdesert...@gmail.com ~~~

Opening LyX-2.0 Files in LyX-1.6.5
I found myself wanting to open the same document sometimes in LyX 2.0 and sometimes in LyX 1.6.5. Oh sure, a LyX 1.6.5 document opens fine in LyX 2.0, but I ran into an error when trying open a LyX 2.0 document in LyX 1.6.5. So I did a little experimentation. I copied the LyX 2.0 lyx/lib/lyx2lyx folder into the LyX 1.6.5 lyx/lib/ directory. Then recompiled LyX 1.6.5. Voilá. Now I can open the same file with either version of LyX. Am I violating any taboo here? Does this void the LyX warranty? -Jack -- ~~~ Jack Desert --Writer, Entrepeneur Author and Spokesman: www.LetsEATalready.com Software Developer: http://GrooveTask.org Email: jwo...@gmail.com ~~

LyxBlogger Goes XML-RPC
LyxBlogger 0.31 is released. It's a whole new critter under the hood. She still runs on Python, but Xclip is gone. Instead, she's running proud and strong on the wordpresslib.py library, which allows her to connect directly to the XML-RPC backbone of WordPress. New Features in LyxBlogger 0.31: • XML-RPC connectivity to WordPress Blogs • Supports Image Upload • Supports LyX 2.0 (internal) LyXHTML format • Supports eLyXer HTML format • Retrieves categories from server to allow user to select from a list. • Allows user prompts for credentials or saving of credentials in file • Spawns its own xterm window for user input and to display messages • Extracts title from document and uses it as the posting title. • Test credentials provided for zippermania.wordpress.com so new users can easily try out LyxBlogger. I've created a Google code repository with archives of present and past versions of LyxBlogger. See http://code.google.com/p/lyxblogger I welcome any LyX users to try LyxBlogger for themselves. It will be exciting to see what interesting topics appear at the testing site, http://zippermania.wordpress.com, in the coming months. -Jack -- ~~~~~~~ Jack Desert --Writer, Entrepeneur Author and Spokesman: www.LetsEATalready.com Software Developer: http://GrooveTask.org Email: jwo...@gmail.com ~~~

Yes, it does have XML-RPC capability. Does LyX have a built-in XML-RPC client, or would I have to use a separate one? I would still want the option to do a full preview before pulling the trigger on a post. -Jack -- ~~~ Jack Desert --Writer, Entrepeneur Author and Spokesman: www.LetsEATalready.com Software Developer: http://GrooveTask.org Email: jwo...@gmail.com ~~~
Re: Blogging with LyX
More progress has been made in Blogging with LyX. Thanks Alex for helping me discover that I had a really outdated version of eLyXer in my original tests. The latest version of eLyXer does an elegant job of formatting my code, so I have switched to it as my LyX to HTML converter. You can read about my experience and download my latest source code for LyxBlogger at http://letseatalready.com/2010/03/17/lyxblogger/ Short Description: Lyxblogger makes it very easy to publish your LyX-formatted document in a WordPress blog or other Internet posting. It uses eLyXer to convert your document to html, then uses Xclip to copy that html to your clipboard for easy pasting into a new blog entry. -Jack -- ~~~ Jack Desert --Writer, Entrepeneur Author and Spokesman: www.LetsEATalready.com Software Developer: http://GrooveTask.org Email: jwo...@gmail.com WordPress, Blogspot, blog engine, paste html ~~~
Re: Blogging with LyX

Could LyxPoster be added to the converters, so that one > could export to clipboard right from LyX? > Liviu Liviu, I just made a minor change to LyxPoster and successfully ran it as a converter in LyX. So now I just click file-> export-> html_clipboard and it's ready to paste. The LyxPoster source code on my website has been updated to reflect the change. -Jack -- ~~~ Jack Desert --Writer, Entrepeneur Author and Spokesman: www.LetsEATalready.com Software Developer: http://GrooveTask.org Email: jwo...@gmail.com ~~~
