Hi,
Is there a way by which I can get a \mathbf{x} to appear as it does in the
final document (that is, bold x) in the LyX window itself? i.e., just like
\alpha shows up as the symbol alpha in the LyX window, can \mathbf{x} show
up as bold-x somehow?
Thanks,
nirmal

Select the entire table, then click Layout - Paragraph in the pull down
menus and select 'Center' as the 'Alignment' option.
Another way is to right click anywhere on the table and select the
Longtable option in the Spec. Table section of the Tabular tab. This
will automatically center it

I'm hardly a guru, but it sounds like the original questioner is

So, it seems to me that LyX tried to execute 'BUGS.tex'
instead of
'latex BUGS.tex' or whatever it was supposed to do. Any
ideas?
Seems like LyX doesn't know where the latex executable is or
else this has never been set. If you look at

I suppose, LyX just doesnot realize/test for changes in included/input parts
(the same holds for graphics: if you just change an *.eps file but leave the
main LyX file untouched, Update-DVI will do nothing.
Yes, I think this is true... can this can be corrected?

Hi,
I've got a couple of \input{my_file} statements in my file. However, when I
change the contents of my_file and then do an Update-DVI or an Update-PS
in LyX, the changes I made to my_file aren't reflected. I have to then
remove the \input statement and do an Update-DVI (basically re-run

Thanks Herbert. I was actually hoping that there would be some other way
since I've been doing this for a while and I need to set the fonts and
justification manually. Is there any way to automate this and have a
preferred Title style saved ??

build your own titlepage:

This works wonderfully well!! Thanks Herbert. I'll look up the help on
writing style files to automate more tasks cos this is really cool!

this is the easiest way. put it in latex preamble.
a better way is to put this in a stylefile.

Hi.. this might sound totally crazy but is there any way to import an Excel
spreadsheet into LyX as a table? I guess I can copy and paste it but then I
need to keep track of the number of rows and columns etc. I also tried
saving the spreadsheet as tab limited and space separated text files
Thanks Herbert. I downloaded the package from the CTAN website and tried
it. The macro creates the Latex file and it looks ok but when I try to
import it into LyX, I get the Error while executing reLyX -f filename.tex
error message. I tried Include file option too but that doesn't work
I tried that but it gives me an error:
LaTeX Error: File '/cygdrive/d/data.tex' not found.
\input{/cygdrive/d/data.tex}

No pages of output
So the include file isn't working for some reason. I checked the option

You could put a \newpage right after the last line of text
before the Appendix.. so the Appendix will start on a new page.. I'm
guessing there's some LyX menu option to do the same
