lyx/pdflatex pstrick

2010-07-15 Thread Artimess
Hi All,

I am having no success on including some pstrick code as I always get
errors. If I just put the code in a normal documet and do:
latex ->dvi2pdf then it works.
It seems to me that pdflatex has some issues with pstricks. Is there any
work around for it?
Thanks
Artimess

ps:The sample code that I am using is. yes, I have pstrick and pstree in my
preamble

Supper imposed (almost letters)

2010-06-27 Thread Artimess
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following:

What I need is some code to create the effect of having a letter crossed and
a little bit above it have an other letter printed.
Imagine that you are correcting a text for typo and a letter is wrong in a
word, you cross the letter and above it (slightly) you write the corrected
letter, for example:

Guy (imagine the correct word was Buy, so the G should be crossed and
above it one should write B.

I am including a jpg file to show the effect or something similar that I
like to realize.

I do appreciate your help and many thanks in afvance,

know how to fix it.
Here is the log messages I get. I highlighted the error in RED.

Also, It is preferable t have this as module rater than layout how should I

problem adding a module Lyx 2.0 Alpha3

2010-05-26 Thread Artimess
When I add the following module in BLUE to $HOME/Library/Application

However, I did not have this problem before adding the following module.
Could I please have some help to solve this issue.

I created one in my home directory and reconfigured Lyx, but it does not see
the module that I added.

If you don't like "Algorithm", you can define your own float as in the
attached module. Copy it to your LyX user layouts directory (e.g.,
$HOME/.lyx/layouts/), reconfigure LyX, and restart. Then it will be
available under Insert>Float.

Figure Number bug perhaps?

2010-05-22 Thread Artimess
I am using Lyx 1.6.6 on Mac, in Lyx the Figure numbers are correctly
identifed as Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2, etc. But when I reference them in the
text, the references get the section numbers instead. For example if I
reference figure 1.2 in section 1.6.2, in the printout it appears as "in
Figure 1.6.2" instead of "in Figure 1.2...". I am selecting as
the reference stye.
Could someone tell me what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in adavnce,

Package installation question

2010-05-20 Thread Artimess
Could someone tell me:

1) Where does Lyx stores the packages in Mac, Linux, and Windows if they
are different?
2) Should I do anything special to install a package beyond moving it to the
right directory and do a reconfigure?
3) How can I check if a package is available or installed?
4) Are the commands of the installed new package visible to Lyx front-end
and one can select them through menu bar?
or should we use ERT for them?

Many thanks for your help,

Displaying block of code

2010-05-18 Thread Artimess
Please for give me for this very simple minded question. I am new to this
user group and Lyx for that matter. I like to know if there are any
commands that I can use to display block of codes and commands. I do not
want to use the same font and style of ordinary text and I would like to
keep these code blocks together . By that I mean I do not want half the
code in one page and the other have in another page.

Many thanks in advance,
