Insert cross-reference shortcut
You can make a shortcut for inserting a label, but I did not find a way to do it for inserting a cross-reference, so every time I have to use mouse to click on the toolbar. Any suggestions? To be very honest I remembered the \AtBeginDocument thing when I cooled
down a bit it the bed :P

After-preamble with polyglossia
\addto\captions{%

does not work after \begin{document} and there is no way to put it
after \usepackage{polyglossia}. I am enraged!

Should I compile whatever is the latest version to fix this? It feels
so dumb to handcraft a file with LyX to end up compiling it with
xelatex on command line, because LyX does not allow me to mess with
polyglossia!
Sorry if missed some info I am very angry and I want to sleep and I
still have not finished with my documents.

Color scheme for dark themes.
Whoever thinks it's a good idea to print black letters on dark grey background is dead wrong. Tested on Adwaita Dark and High Contrast Inverse. Is it fixed in newer versions of LyX? I did not upgrade from Debian 11, but made a clean install and Lyx
works just fine, so it is problem with your upgrade. AFAIK it is common
for X to break on Debian upgrade.
Sorry, I am not going to be much help but if you are really
desperate you could try doing something nuclear like
```
dpkg-query -f '${Package} ${db:Status-Status}\n' -W '*xorg*' -W '*gtk*'
-W '*qt*' | awk '/ installed$/'
```
and deleting all (or most) of the packages. It will be a bit of a hassle
to install them all again especially if your installation is big, but it
*might* fix you problem.

I assume it's not likely "$DISPLAY" is missing, but maybe really some
xcb libraries got deleted during upgrade? Are other qt applications
working?
You can also `apt purge lyx` and then install in again...
You can also `strace lyx > ~/tmp/trace 2>&1` and then skim trough it
after reboot, but believe me that's not going to be pretty.

*customTitles.module* is the aforementioned module. I put it in
*~/.lyx/layouts*, because I am not sure if putting it in Document ->
Settings -> Local Layout would be correct. *example.lyx* is the file you
request.

Customization manual it seems to me that the .module files exist exactly
for the purpose of user declared modules. I assumed that I need to
"trigger" LyX to use my module, so I modified it as shown at the end of
this message. I then used the style in my document. The resulting LaTeX
code it there as well. As you can see, no *titlesec* at all.

Not really. Because I can disable *hyperref* support in Document ->
Settings -> PDF Properties as well, with pretty much the same result.
The "hackish" part about this is that I have to enable *hyperref*
support, then look up the generated code in the preamble, copy it to my
custom preamble and then disable it again. I do not consider this to be
a lot of trouble, because you are likely to only do it once, yet it
seems to me we could have a cleaner solution.

Debian 11. LyX 2.3.6 (2020-11-27).
I want to use *titlesec* package in my document. However, if it is
loaded /after/ *hyperref* package, it causes inconsistent behavior. For
example, ToC entries might point to wrong places.
One solution to this problem is loading *hyperref* manually, however, I
think of this as of a hack. Is it possible to somehow make *titlesec* to
be loaded before *hyperref*? I tried to declare a .module, but it
failed. The module code is listed at the end. The module appears in
Document -> Settings -> Modules, however, loading it does not cause the
\usepackage{titlesec} to be added to preamble. I tried using
AddToPreamble block, however, its contents come after *hyperref* is loaded.
