start page 1 with title authors (after cover page)

· Copy footer text from Illustrator. Font in Word will be Josefin

fancy footer

2013-12-04 Thread Ignacio Martinez
Hi everyone,

Can somebody help me write a fancy footer like the one in this paper
http://curry.virginia.edu/uploads/resourceLibrary/17_Castleman_All_or_Nothing.pdf
?

Thanks a lot,

Ignacio

PS: I'm reading
http://texblog.org/2007/11/07/headerfooter-in-latex-with-fancyhdr/ but
failing in generating what I need.

Re: fancy footer

2013-12-04 Thread Ignacio Martinez
Getting closer to what I need but not there yet. I need the color to be
right. This is what I have in my preamble

\usepackage{lipsum}

\usepackage{fancyhdr}

\usepackage{xcolor}

\usepackage{etoolbox}

\pagestyle{fancy}

\makeatletter

\definecolor{curry}{rgb}{29,109,136}

\patchcmd{\@fancyfoot}{\rlap}{\color{curry}\rlap}{}{}

\makeatother

\fancyfoot[C]{CEPWC Working Paper Series No. 13 July 2013.\\

Available at http://curry.virginia.edu/research/centers/cepwc/publications
.\\

Curry School of Education | Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public
Policy | University of Virginia}

\fancyfoot[RO, LE] {\thepage}

\renewcommand{\headrulewidth}{0.0pt}

\renewcommand{\footrulewidth}{0.0pt}

The problem is that when I use color curry it does not work. It does if I
use orange for example.

Thanks!

Fancy cover page?

2013-12-04 Thread Ignacio Martinez
Hi,

This time I need to do a fancy cover page, like
http://curry.virginia.edu/uploads/resourceLibrary/17_Castleman_All_or_Nothing.pdf
Can somebody help me do this in LyX? I have the logo as a svg and png.

Thanks a lot!

Ignacio

PS: They are pushing me to use MS Word, which is a problem because I use
linux...

But apparently they don't like this type of question :_(

 This should be doable in LaTeX. If you don't get more help here,
 consider asking on tex.stackexchange.com (use the tag LyX and write
 that you are using LyX in your question).

 This should be doable in LaTeX. If you don't get more help here,
 consider asking on tex.stackexchange.com (use the tag LyX and write
 that you are using LyX in your question).

[Formating?]

2013-08-17 Thread Ignacio Martinez
Hi,

I need to change some formatting to meet some formal requirements.

1. Need the first paragraph of each section to be indented, just like
every other paragraph is.
2. I need the document to not justify the right margin.

Any idea how to do this?

Thanks!

Problem with citations (author?)

2013-08-03 Thread Ignacio Martinez
Hi everyone,

When I try to add a citation I get see for instance (author?) [1, 3, 5].

How can I fix this?

Thanks a lot

Table formating

2013-08-03 Thread Ignacio Martinez
I created a table using LyX, but the formatting is wrong.

If you look at the pdf the table is too long for the page, I need the first
column, and the title of the third, to use multiple lines so the table fit
well in the page. How can I do this?

Thanks a lot!

 DeclareMathOperator is described in Section 10.4 Self-defined Operators

My first idea was to do this in libreoffice and just merge the 2 pdf. But
given that I'm pushing people to use LyX and they have (or will have) to do
the same thing it would be great to have it in a LyX template file.

Can you help me with the ERT stuff that you mentioned?

  Yes, because you can make it look that way using some LaTeX. Have a
  look at one of the thesis classes and look, in particular, at the
  \maketitle command and what it does. You can modify it for your
  purposes.

  That said, as Steve Litt will also say if he doesn't read this

  with LaTeX to do the cover. Just do it in whatever, export it to
  PDF, and use something like pdftk to add it at the end.

 :-)

 That's just so 2006. :-) By 2008 I knew how to do a cover in
 Inkscape and place it as the first page of an eBook. Here's my latest
 cover:

 http://www.troubleshooters.com/bookstore/images/larry_cover_pro_fullsize.png

 To put that on the first page I do something like this:

 ==
 \begin_body

 \begin_layout Standard
 \begin_inset ERT
 status open

 \begin_layout Plain Layout

 \backslash
 frontmatter
 \backslash
 thispagestyle{empty}
 \backslash
 setcounter{page}{1}

 What Ignacio wants to do isn't nearly that complex. He can do it with
 a tiny bit of ERT, which is what I recommend for all frontmatters.

 than typing $...$. The reason I used LaTeX macros to capture bits and
 pieces is
 that LyX (at least as of 1.6.x) does not have horizontal scrolling for
 annoyingly wide equations or tables, so editing this thing in the equation
 editor requires zooming way, way out and using a very powerful magnifying
 glass.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for replaying.
This is my first time in the list and I'm confuse.
Did you send an attached .lyx file? I just got a long email with a lot of
code that I'm not sure where in lyx to put...
Thanks again
