But apparently when you press Apply, Lyx loses the connection between the image and the dialog box. I think you actually have to click on the image in the document again before any manipulation is begun. If you don't, the dialogue box is actually addressing the image from the original directory, then when manipulated, scaled by percentage or whatever, or even just click OK it reproduces the image, giving you another that's been changed, because the dialogue box references the image in the folder anew, ***not*** the image in the document already. So just click on the image in the document already and the dialogue box pops up, then manipulate it, and it will be working on the image in the document, not the one in the directory from where it was pulled. I moved stdsections.inc to my home directory, put it in ./lyx/layouts but changes to TopSep, BottomSep and ParSep are not recognized after reconfigure. I use lyx 1.6.5 on a slackware 12.1 system. Any suggestions are appreciated. John Hello John, I know nothing about LyX, just muddle through because I like it but.. you may have to use \usepackage{titlesec} and play with this line: {12pc}{0.5ex plus .1ex minus .2ex}{1pc} In the subsection - subsubsection line? I think the 0.5ex is where you increase or decrease the spacing between sections? Larger than 0.5ex will increase the spacing I think. Maybe try 0.0ex or -0.5ex But I could be wasting your time? Printing problems.........
It doesn't rain but it pours. My HP Deskjet F2280 all in one printer won't print landscape in anything created by LyX either directly from LyX or from a .pdf file that LyX created. I see on the Hewlett Packard webspace that another person is having problems with the same printer when trying to print landscape documents created by LaTeX, on an Ubuntu system. He said that an OpenOffice landscape document will print. I haven't tried it yet. But no solution was found. So who's problem? LyX or HP and making it mine? Hope I'm not doing the wrong thing here, not a criticism, if at all correct, just an observation: Embedded Objects Chapter 2 2.11.1 Coloured Cells \rowcolow{cyan} is inserted to the first cell of this row. Note that this overwrites the column color for the first cell. The last cell of the last row is colored magenta by inserting the TeX-Code command I possibly incorrectly assume it should read: \rowcolor{cyan} Discovered this while getting more adventuress and trying to colour a row. But it doesn't work with either spelling for me. But that's not a worry because \cellcolor{cyan} does and I'll just do individual cells instead of the whole row. Hello everyone, Hope this isn't wasting anyone's time. This could be useful in the future if I knew how it was done? I use a template for my journal and have used the same one for years with few changes, however.. Today the Section used Typewriter font instead of Sans Serif font which is the usual font locked into the template, and I can't for the life of me see what I changed? I changed nothing in the preamble other than inserting the date as ever and closed out of document settings. So can only assume it was a key binding? I don't have any special key binding file. When I bring up the template anew, the Section comes up as it should Sans Serif font. It's not important, but just interesting how it was done, and as mentioned, it might be useful in the future. Any ideas? (http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyXWinInstaller) I am having problems with spellchecking my documents I have created. I keep getting the error message The spellechker could not be started. No word lists can be found for the language en_GB Any suggestions on how to get this working? I did get this working when I had to use windows recently, but I can't recall how I did it. I got that Miktex or whatever it was called to download and install all the possible packages. Then found Aspell on the net and installed that as well. When I went into the spellchecker through Preferences- Language Settings- Spellchecker, but it was greyed out and never changed. I also think I looked for a word list. Jumped through a lot of hoops, but knew as soon as my new hard drive arrived I would be back to Linux, nevertheless got the spellchecker to work in windows eventually. It was ugly and more trouble than it should have been. I wish you luck with it and am really sorry no notes were kept of what was done, so can't help you more. On Thu, 27 Aug 2009 14:47:54 +0200 Siegfried Meunier-Guttin-Cluzel meun...@coria.fr applied thoughts to keyboard and posted this: I use the spellchecker on LyX 1.6.4 on Windows XP pro without any problem (in french !). Perhaps it is a problem of the langage of the document which isn't well defined (Document-Preferences). You must also have the dictionary for this langage. Siegfried. Thanks Siegfried, I did download the dictionary English [Australian] dictionary if I recall and a lot of other stuff, some of which I purged when the spellchecker was up and running and discovered some of the software wasn't required. I just don't recall what was done and what fixed it. It was an affectation. When in windows I actually don't find MSWord or OpenOffice.org onerous to use, but prefer to use LyX wherever possible. So due to bloody mindedness just kept worrying away at it while working in the other programs and finally got it working the way I wanted. Re: Lyx 1.6.4 Spellchecker on Windows XP
On Thu, 27 Aug 2009 11:37:08 +0100 Nurul Miah nurul.m...@london.gov.uk shared this with is all on the Lyx users list: Hi, I have installed the complete package of LYX 1.6.4 with Aspell for Windows XP. Fonts in toolbar - menu list, dropdown menu etc.. look a bit skinny and
Hello Everyone, Running Debian Squeeze I think this is a LyX problem, because all other proggys run on FVWM don't present with a very skinny and flaky font in the toolbar, menu list, drop down menu's and such The title on the window is good and I think that's set by FVWM, but all the other fonts mentioned, of the window surround crook. Is this a LyX problem or do I have to go elsewhere? Thank you, Charlie -- Registered Linux User:- 329524 *** We can never have enough of nature. wrapfig......... how to do that.........
Hello everyone, I have been reading this: http://wiki.lyx.org/Tips/PlacingPicturesBesideTheText Plus a whole heap of stuff on the net to try to have text wrapped around a graphic. I can't make it work. Just a simple line example would be nice and I will experiment with it from there: Do I have to use it in an ERT in the chapter/section I want it in? \usepackage{wrapfig}[12]{r}[34pt]{5cm}{pictobeused.jpg} Doesn't work in ERT So how might one use it? Also thanks to Jürgen for his post regarding this matter, it also is much appreciated. I actually did the LyX upgrade, when I went from Debian Lenny [stable] to Debian Squeeze [testing] Again many thanks to you both. LyX - 1.62.......... Ctrl + Enter no longer works as in previous LyX versions
Hello out there, Using LyX 1.6.2 on Debian Squeeze, Use Ctrl + Enter and there is no longer the space as was in earlier versions of Lyx, rather a music note comes up. What is the correct key combination to effect the result of Ctrl + Shift in LyX 1.6.2 please. Have man templates that now don't work right.
