1.6.3 and PDF

2009-07-10 Thread Nick Kuzmik
I've just installed 1.6.3 for windows but it seems that the PDF export
feature was not included. Where can I find the necessary software, and some
instructions?

HTML Export

2007-06-28 Thread Nick Kuzmik

I just did a yum update and I can't seem to find the Export to HTML option.
Did that get removed or am I just having a case of the stupids?

Equation numbering

2007-01-27 Thread Nick Kuzmik

Is there any way to get section/subsection reflected in equation numbering?
For example, I have a study guide that chapter 13.1 to 17.5, thats 36 pages
long with some 228 lines of equations. It would be more concise to be able
to reference equation 14.3.3, rather than Equation 94

Hyperlinks

2006-11-17 Thread Nick Kuzmik

If I create a document, then export it to HTML, is there a way to make
hyperlinks out of URLs and do it semi-automagically?

math macros

2006-10-15 Thread Nick Kuzmik

I do a lot of math in lyx, and I create a lot of macros on the fly. What's
the best way to keep them organized? Maybe make it so every file I open has
all the same macros?

Math mode symbol question

2006-09-10 Thread Nick Kuzmik

Does anybody know how I can get LyX to generate a lowercase, cursive "r",
which is the symbol for a separation vector in various math and physics
fields.

Export to Microsoft Word

2006-07-05 Thread Nick Kuzmik
I found a page on the LyX wiki about importing Microsoft Word documents in
LyX. http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/ConvertingFromWord

Is there an efficient way output LyX files to editable doc, particularly
forumula heavy LyX files?

Either that or how can I motivate my research advisor to learn LyX?

Comment environment

In version 1.4.X, why was "comment" moved from the layout area and changed so
that it seems no different than a lyx note?

lables and cross reference

2006-04-23 Thread Nick Kuzmik
Is there a way to use labels and referencing such that Description terms are
what printed/renderd. For example I'm using Description to list and define
terms. I can put label tags on the entries I want, but when I Cross-reference
to them all I get are the section-subsection numbers, etc, which is rather
useless if the referencing text is in the same section.

document switching

2006-04-08 Thread Nick Kuzmik
Is there a fast way to toggle between 2 open documents in a single instance of
Lyx. I'm thinking of something analagous to CTRL-TAB for tabbed browsing in
Firefox or how MS Word used to open several files within one instance of the
program and there was a cycle command.

I'm looking for something that is less context sensative than ALT-D, remember
which document I'm in, look at the list, and pick the doc I want.

system of equations

2006-04-05 Thread Nick Kuzmik

Is there anyway to do systems of equations in lyx, such that there is a
curly brace on the left side, nothing on the right side, 2 or more
equation matrices inside the brace, and here's the tricky part, the
equations are all counted as part of the total equation tally.

Spell check problem

2006-03-05 Thread Nick Kuzmik
I'm trying to write some fiction involving some gutteral dialogue,
specifically, chopping the "g" off the end of present-tense verbs. As I
understand it, the correct way to be grammaticaly incorrect is to remove the
"g" and add an appostrophe, however spellcheck pitches a major hissy when I do
this. Not only is the word misspelled, but I can't add the word, becaue this
violates some rule. On top of that, I can't even do an Ignore All, because
that returns the same error.

 Any suggestions?

arbitrary Section numbers

2005-12-16 Thread Nick Kuzmik
Among other things I like to use Lyx to create study guides for my math
courses. I use Section/subsection/subsubsection to organize that info in a
reasonable fashion. I also like to use a TOC as some of these study guides
can get a tad large, and the TOC speads up the studying.

What I've found awkward is that when a create a study guide for say chapters
2.5-4.4, and start using Section and such, Lyx automatically starts at Section
1

I've tried using Section* and manually titeling my headings, but they they
don't appear in the TOC.

What I'm asking is does anybody know of some ERT that will allow me to
insert a section heading and dispite being the first section on the page, have
that be section 4, and still have it show up in the TOC?

Am I trying to have my cake and eat it too?
