Graphics output on PDF

2009-06-01 Thread Pablo
Hello everybody!

I'm working on a thesis, currently running Lyx 1.6 over MikTex 2.7 on a Vista
environment. Just in case I'm using the standard Report layout. When
generating the PDF via pdflatex everything looks pretty except for the graphics.
Eventhough they look pretty good on Lyx, on the pdf they appear completely
oversized and since I am mostly working with raster images (I mean, not
vectorial) they look pretty bad. So, for every figure I add, a process of trial
and error follows in order to get the right scale.. (then of course I have to
determine the right clipping values in order to get the image centered!)...

I have the impression that lyx would work much better with vectorial images
(eps, svg, etc.) but most of my figures are made with Flash.. and sadly its
fuction for exporting vectorial images doesnt work too well..

Anyway, any ideas of whether there is something wrong here?

Thank you very much in advances!

Bibliography headers and TOC

2009-01-15 Thread Pablo
Hi all!
I'm using Lyx 1.6.0 to write my master thesis. It's all fine, except two
points for which I dont' find solutions neither in the archives nor other
forums.

1- Bibliography header. I'm using document class BOOK and fancy headers.
Bilbiografy appears capitalized and both in upper-left and upper-right
corners, which is annoying for me. I would like to have it not capitalized
and just in one corner.

2- Bibliography and TOC. Ok, just marking the option in the Bibtex Generated
Bibliography, it does the correct TOC, but when using the generated PDF and
clicking there in toc, the hyperlink brings me to the chapter before.

Thanks in advance

Pablo

Problems exporting to OpenDocument

2008-05-25 Thread pablo
Hello,
I'm trying to export my LyX document to OpenDocument but LyX does not
produce output. The document is written in Slovakian language and in the
cp1250 encoding. I tried removing all the ERT from the document but it
didn't help. I'm running LyX 1.5.5-2 on WinXP. Exporting to other document
types (PDF, DVI, PS) works just fine. Can anyone give me an advice please?
If there's any other information you need I'd be happy to provide it.
Please don't forget to send the replies to my e-mail address too as I'm

Best regards,

Pablo

Hi,

Qt in SuSE 9.3 is corrupted. If you must use accents, you will have to
recompile Qt. I should know: it was I that filed the bug report to KDE.
It is far easier to download OpenSuSE 10 from

Problem with depth.

2005-09-02 Thread José Pablo Ezequiel Fernández
Hello,
I am having a problem with depths where I have a paragraph and a set of items
(itemize) and everything should be in depth 1 (not 0), so I select it and I
choose increse depth. All the items except the fisrt one are put inside an
incresed depth (the first item and the paragraph are left out). Am I doing
something wrong ?
I am attaching the example file, I am using LyX 1.3.5 on Linux.
Thanks.

I think there is a possibility that if article.cls exists and is not found,
that some old file like .bash_profile or /etc/profile or even .login might
have a prior defining entry which points to older locations of files and
which could possibly differ from a newer version of teTeX, or maybe
even Suse 10 beta, which could change the previous default installation

Still, it seems most likely that many .cls are genuinely missing in action

(5 Jun 2005) Note that if you have environment variables for teTeX
in a wrong way (such as TEXINPUTS, TEXMF, TEXMFCNF, and so
on), they may prevent teTeX from working. Please unset them first if
you do not know what they are for since typically they are not needed.
However, some TeX related packages may suggest to set TEXINPUTS.
In that case, please make sure the TEXINPUTS includes a trailing :

Thanks. I went back to Mandrake LE2005, and Lyx is -again- working as usual.
All classes *can't* be missing in the SuSE LaTeX rpm, so I tend to believe
that -perhaps because the search paths are wrong- Lyx couldn't find them.

This is the Mandriva (working) setting.
pablo]# find / -name article.cls

I can no longer find where the SuSE rpm did in fact install the classes (let's
suppose it did), but it is clear they were not in their right place. There
was also the issue with DVI and PDF not appearing under View. These and
other problems made me go back to Mandrake, which is the distro in which I've

No classes

2005-08-27 Thread Pablo Ortúzar
Stephen,

Thanks. My doc/LaTeXConfig.lyx autogenerated file says that
"[t]he document classes presented in this section are the basic document
classes provided by LaTeX. In particular, they are all present on your system
as long as log as LaTeX2e is installed". The SuSE te_latex rpm "provides
LaTeX. To be exact, LaTeX2e". Now, te_latex *is* installed. However, "[w]hen
the text indicates that a particular class has not been found, this means the
layout file supporting this particular class has not been found". No classes
were found for article, report, book, letter, slides, amsart, aa, aastex, AGU
Journal of Gephysical Research, broadway, cv, cl2emult, dinfrief, docbook,
dtk, egs, elsart, entcs, extsizes, foils, g-brief-en, g-brief-de, gbrief2,
hollywood, IEEEtran, ijmpd, kluwer, koma-script, koma-script letter, latex 8,
linuxdoc, IIncs, memoir, mwcls, paper, SPIE, REVTeX, REVTeX4, SIAMLTeX,
Springer Unspecific Journal, Springer Journal of Geodesy, Springer
Probability Theory and Related Fields, nor TUGboat.
Further packages listed as "missing" are: array, babel, color, graphicx,
longtable, varioref, a4, a4wide, geometry, algorithm, fancyhdr, floatflt,
natbib, prettyref, rotating, subfigure, setspace, and url.

Either the LaTeX package is utterly corrupted, or Lyx does not detect its
layout files. Shifting from Lyx 3.5 to version 3.6 -or the other way around-
has proven useless.

Problem with enumerate

Hi guys,

I've a question I didn't find in FAQ neither Tutorial, I'd like to
write:

1. Numerate sample.

  * Car.
  * House.
  * Book.

2. Second numerate sample.

But when I add the itemizes, and go to add second numerate sample, LyX
puts:

1. Numerate sample.

  * Car.
  * House.
  * Book.

1. Second numerate sample.

with the number 1 on the second sample, how can I change this to LyX
puts it right? (Number 2).

Thanks in advance,

KDE upgrade + accents

2004-08-26 Thread Pablo Ortúzar
Hi,

I run SuSE 9.1 Pro. I've used Lyx for quite a while with a Spanish keyboard
and an English overall locale, but now, after doing apt dist-upgrade and
getting KDE 3.3.0 working, I can no longer type accents in Lyx: typing an
accent plus a vowel gives exactly that: an accent plus a vowel, side by side.
When I compiled from source, Lyx complained about not finding keyboard map
iso8859-1 in ~/.lyx/preferences. This time, vowels + accents gave... nothing.
I'm back to the SuSE rpm. I found the same problem in KWord, but not in
OpenOffice nor in Abiword. Qt trouble? Trouble is, I use Lyx...
Thanks in advance,

 Hi Kostas.

Can you see the EPS files in gv (separately from LyX)? If so, in LyX's

Check lyx -dbg graphics - any message?

Hi everyone,

I also suffer the same problem in my Solaris, but I never really bothered

Re: SOT: meaning of mathematical binary operators

2004-04-19 Thread Pablo Diaz-Gutierrez
Hello Rich,

I think, as with any other symbol, the meaning depends on the context. As
of right now, I am doing my homework on differential topology, and the
circled product represents the tensor product. I remember some other cases
where circled operators were used to denote vector/matrix operations, as
opposed to their scalar counterparts.

Report.

The document begin with Contents, and then First Section. No title...

Re: Problem with first page

2004-04-11 Thread Pablo Rodríguez González
Hello,

About the ctrl-d yes, I use it too, no problem with that :-)

And yes, with ctrl-d I also see a blank page :-(

How can I put the title?. For explain:

It seems...that header in first page has a big big separation from
"Contents", and that is the blank page in middle. The document begins
with a little header, all the page empty, and then, next page, the
"Contents".

Thank you very much. Another idea from the group?

Regards,

Vectorial header

2004-04-10 Thread Pablo Rodríguez González
Hi guys,

What vectorial images formats does LyX support for importing?
Does it support advanced attributes like gradients and patterns?

In my case I use freehand 10 and I would like to import a draw for the
document's header.

Thanks in advance,

Making header

2004-04-10 Thread Pablo Rodríguez González
Hi guys,

Reading in extended documentation to make a header for my templates, I
saw that I've to put \chead {My name} in Preamble's box; in
Layout/Document, selecting Fancy.

But it doesn't put my name, and gave me next error:

Undefined control sequence.
 \chead
   {My name}
The control sequence at the end of the top line
of your error message was never \def'ed. If you have
misspelled it (e.g., `\hobx'), type `I' and the correct
spelling (e.g., `I\hbox'). Otherwise just continue,
and I'll forget about whatever was undefined.

But the spelling is correct, or not?

Thanks in advance,

Centering Contents

2004-04-10 Thread Pablo Rodríguez González
Hi again,

Once the index is generated, in printing preview -and printed-,
Contents is on the left of the document, not centered.

Where do I adjust this?

Regards,

Re: Centering Contents

2004-04-10 Thread Pablo Rodríguez González
First of all, than you very much for your responses.

All of them right, except this one:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\centering Contents}

didn't nothing :-(.

And...I have one extra page at the beginning of document, with nothing, only the
number. I can't erase them and move the Contents to the first page :-/

Any idea?

Regards,
