Just as a follow-up for anyone who’s interested...

It appears that the txfonts/pxfonts packages are not compatible with the
esint package that LyX uses for mathmode.

To disable it:

Go to Document > Settings...

Go to the ‘Math Options’ preferences pane.

Untick both the ‘Use esint package automatically’ and ‘Use esint package’.


It appears that the \varint command I referred to earlier is part of the
esint package, so it is no longer available.

Hi,

I get this problem (still) from both pxfonts and txfonts.

The only workaround I have found is to use \varint rather than plain \int
for integrals.
