Changing Document Margins

2001-12-03 Thread Vern Kyle

I am trying to change the margins of my document. When I go to
Layout--Document--Paper I can see the options of where to change the
margins, but I am unable to Apply (or OK) these changes. Am I missing
something with this?

Thanks for the help,
Vern

Creating lyx templates

2001-11-12 Thread Vern Kyle

This might have a significant amount of cross-over between what is truly lyx
vs what is required formatting in Latex. I am trying to produce a standard
company template that will follow my company's general formatting rules, and
have run into some of the following difficulties. I have scanned some of the
documentation, but am at a loss where I might find some of these items. Any
help is appreciated.

Issues:

o Using a non-standard font, that is available in MS Word. Need
to use the fonts so that they match exactly? What abilities is provided
in lyx/latex to import fonts from other platforms and to use these fonts
  to produce PDF/PS files?

o Importing JPEG images into document. Also, using JPEG images in header
  or footer.

o If anyone knows of any documentation doing a walk-through of setting up
a latex template and using it in lyx... I have found examples of completed
templates, however, my knowledge is still a bit weak to move from an example
  to a completed template.

Thanks in advance,

Vern

  I get this output:

ampad:~/lyx.tutorial$ Converting from latex to DVI
  Running
  sh: first.tex: not found

Looks to me like the tex or latex binary can't be found from withtin
LyX. I get the same thing because tex is installed in /usr/loca instead
of /usr and I used tcsh as a shell. The effect is that path settings set
in the .login file don't have any effect in the GUI environment.
Effectively, /us/local/bin doesn't appear in my path if I lauch LyX from
a menu button (such as the ones in the GNOME panel).

This would describe my situation as well. lyx et al is installed in
/opt/latex/bin. The next question is what would I have do to change
where lyx looks for the environment variables?
