highlight spelling errors

hi there i am a newbie to lyx. i have previously used the winedt latex package for windows. i have installed lyx, cocoaspell and downloaded a PhD thesis template to start writing my thesis. i really like the look and feel of lyx and would prefer to use it BUT... i cannot see a way to automatically
