If you want to do this globally (all bullets, all levels of the 
document, try the following in your preamble:


\addtolength{\leftmargini}{3ex}
\addtolength{\labelsep}{3ex}

(change 3ex to whatever amount of space you want).

The easiest way (if it is temporary) is by pressing Ctrl-space or
Ctrl-Alt-space
(Insert - Formatting).
