To the wiki! And then people can/should add descriptions of what all these packages do, and how they should be used. This will be double work. We already have such a list for all packages LyX supports, including a short description in the Help menu in the file LaTeXConfig.lyx. Besides this, the TeX catalogue has this information for all! packages: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/alpha.html To find out what package can be used for special purposes that LyX does not yet support, one should at first have a look at the EmbeddedObjects or Math manual. If one cannot find a solution, the TeX FAQ describes what packages can be used to solve a certain problem: http://www.tex.ac.uk/cgi-bin/texfaq2html?introduction=yes regards Uwe

I didn't know about cmap. I believe this should be one of the packages loaded by default. Another one should be dcolumn, which provides decimal point alignment for columns of entries in a tabular.
