304-page book, but PDF cuts short at Page 236

Dear all:

Please could you advice me?

I've got a 304-page picture-rich book. But while generating PDF, the file
cuts short at Page 236. After that, the pages don't show up.

Any idea why this could be happening?

Is it due to a lack of space on my hard disk? Ive' tried clearing some
files.

When I try to generate a PS file, the message I get is

Frederick,

we need some more information on what is happening to provide help. Do you
get any error message during compilation? Did you look at the Latex log?
Any error there?

The error message you reported in your second message (the compilation to
PS) seems to suggest you may have run out of space on your hard drive. Or
it may have to do with a permission issue.

Difficult to tell unless you provide more info.

If either your drive or the partition is over 85% full, or has less
than 10GB free, I'd say it's time to do something about that, whether
or not it's the cause of this. Modern drives are way too cheap to go
through the hassle of playing musical files. If getting the new drive
or redistributing partitions fixes the LyX problems, great. If not,
getting enough disk space will certainly prevent other frustrating
problems down the road.

and can now generate PDF. Generating PS is still giving some trouble

 Well, PS files are generally larger than PDFs, which seems to point again
to a space issue. If you want to investigate further, I would suggest
taking a close look at the Latex log from within LyX, or even exporting to
Latex and then compiling from a terminal window.

 Well, PS files are generally larger than PDFs, which seems to point again

If either your drive or the partition is over 85% full, or has less
than 10GB free, I'd say it's time to do something about that, whether
or not it's the cause of this. Modern drives are way too cheap to go
through the hassle of playing musical files. If getting the new drive
or redistributing partitions fixes the LyX problems, great. If not,
getting enough disk space will certainly prevent other frustrating
problems down the road.

Thanks very much for that help Stefano. I've split the file into two parts,
and can now generate PDF. Generating PS is still giving some trouble
though! FN

> Well, PS files are generally larger than PDFs, which seems to point again
to a space issue. If you want to investigate further, I would suggest
taking a close look at the Latex log from within LyX, or even exporting to
Latex and then compiling from a terminal window.
