Currently I'm perfectly happy to abuse a san serif font for the moment.
I've never liked that family anyway.
The fontspec document looks a bit intimidating but I'll give it a go. I
suppose that the local layout approach would work, since one probably get
away without the display font showing Rom

I made the changes in Documents > Settings and in Tools > Preferences and
everything ran smoothly the first time. It took me a second to remember to
reset the screen font before typing this but everything looks like it is
working well.
