Change character dimensions of numbered subsections titles

Hi all,

I use Lyx and the class Article. I find that the titles of numbered
subsections are too big and I would like to change them. However if i
select these titles and change their character dimensions, the numbers
remain as big as before and only the words of the title change.

Is there a method to hack this style? Any idea about an ERT command or
something to put in the preamble?

Thanks for the suggestion, it works. Package titlesec is a good
solution for customizing titles.
