Hi Scott, Among other documents I wrote a bachelor and a master thesis (domain of Linguistics) using quite a number of child documents using André Miede's classicthesis-LyX-v4.1 If I recall correctly then it is already included in Lyx /openSuse 12.3 distro, or just download it from Miede's site
