Re: Equation labelling
Vaibhav Srivastava wrote: Thanks for replying. When I do Insert->label in math mode it shows eq: initially. If I enter mathed:label then it shows nothing Then you used an inline formula. You can only number displayed formulas (formulas in their own "paragraph"). To create a displayed formula you can use the short cut C-S-m (Control-Shift-m) or the menu Insert->Math-> Display Formula. *Lyx version* 1.3.1 *Platform *Win XP BTW. there is a new version available: LyX 1.3.5 for Win, see http://www.home.zonnet.nl/rareitsma/lyx/ regards Uwe

Vaibhav Srivastava wrote: Thanks for your reply. I am not sure how to find out what mode it is in. I just type in the math mode without setting anyother thing. If could tell me how to see that I would be grateful Thanks, Vaibhav I'm not sure what you have to type in the mini-buffer, but the shortcut key is C-m for inline formula and S-C-M for display formula. Otherwise, use Insert->Math->Display Formula from the toolbar. I think that the equation label should then work. Lata, Paul

I use the version 1.3.1 In UserGuide it has shown how to label equations and when I do Insert->Label from the math mode in the users guide and enter a label then it works by showing (mathed:label). However when I am working with my document and do the same then it does not do. However if I copy and paste from user guide onto my document then it shows that. for eg 2-1=1 (mathed:first-equn) would show in the user guide and if I paste on my document then also it will work But it will not work if I wrote 2-1=1(in mat mode of course ) and then did Insert->Label->mathed:first-equn Please tell me what could be going wrong Thanks Just a thoughtare you using an "inline formula" (C-m) or a "display formula" (S-C-M) ? The label will only appear for a display formula, not an inline. Lata, Paul

If yes what happens when you enter some text to this dialog and then press "OK"? regards Uwe
Equation labelling
Hi , I am new to Lyx. I have a problem with Lyx in equation labeling in the math mode. I use the version 1.3.1 In UserGuide it has shown how to label equations and when I do Insert->Label from the math mode in the users guide and enter a label then it works by showing (mathed:label). However when I am working with my document and do the same then it does not do. However if I copy and paste from user guide onto my document then it shows that. for eg 2-1=1 (mathed:first-equn) would show in the user guide and if I paste on my document then also it will work But it will not work if I wrote 2-1=1(in mat mode of course ) and then did Insert->Label->mathed:first-equn Please tell me what could be going wrong Thanks -- Vaibhav Srivastava Graduate Student, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh,NC [EMAIL PROTECTED] Phone: 919 835 1994(R) 919 513 2327(O)
