No, that's "PATH" even on "German" systems. A difference, though, is that 'C:\Program files' is 'C:\Programme' [Although there were times when Excel commands were translated *sigh*] Andre'

I don't know how Uwe's installer works -- in particular, whether it adds the LyX bin directory to the PATH variable This must be tipo, PATH is "PATH" or "Path" on german systems. (I develop the installer under a german Win2k and a german XPx64.) The name doesn't matter because it is read out from the registry. The installer don't register anything to the PATH variable, I assume that you have a program in your PATH variable that also comes with a file named the same as in C:\Programme\LyX141\bin. If two or more programs in the PATH use a file with the same name, the ones of the first in the PATH registered program are used. regards Uwe

Hello Paul! Great, it worked. Problem was in fact the not installed path variable. (C:\Programme\LyX141\bin on my system) Maybe it wasn't installed, because my Wind2k is configured in German?! BTW: no problems with my other system on WinXP. Thanks for the help & good night, Sebastian Greetings Paul A. Rubin schrieb: Sebastian Schetter wrote: Hello! I get the same error (well in German)! This sounds like the fifth bullet under installation notes at http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyX14x, except that it's not supposed to happen with the complete installer. (Well, it's not *supposed* to happen at all, but it's *particularly* not supposed to happen with Uwe's installer.) If you have sh.exe installed in the LyX bin directory, then try opening a command prompt in the bin directory and running 'sh configure' there. If it works, you should be able to start LyX; if not, you should get some sort of error message. If sh is not there, and if you have msys installed elsewhere, the wiki bullet applies, and you may need to add the msys bin directory to your command path. (Easy test: open a command prompt anywhere and run 'sh --version'. If you get an unrecognized command message, you need to update your command path.) If you don't have sh.exe installed anywhere, then you need to download and install msys. /Paul
