Installing 1.6 RC1 keeps failing.

Hi! all I have been unable to install the 1.6 RC1 on my Ubuntu Hardy box. Actually I can ./configure and make but make install keeps failing with the following log. make install-data-hook make[4]: Entering directory `/home/pan/My Downloads/lyx-1.6.0rc1/lib/lyx2lyx' chmod 755
