I'd say it is another one of those very annoying but very common MikTeX
update bugs. Not that that's very helpful, except that you might check
their bug reports or report it yourself.

2020-02-11 Thread Bernt Lie
I run LyX 2.2.3 (for compatibility with some package set-up) and 2.3.4 on 64
bit Win10, latest update.

I tried to update MikTeX, and received the following error message:

What is this?? Anyone has an idea?

Yes exactly. The theory is that over time, the binary will be recognized
as not dangerous because no computer turned into a toad after installing it.

Thanks for all your hard work!

I downloaded the *.exe install version on Windows 10 using Edge (Chromium).
When I tried to open the downloaded file, Edge told me that if I opened the
file, it could destroy my computer.

I assume this is just a warning because the *.exe file has not been registered
in a way that Edge can recognize it??

LyX 2.3.4 is Released

2020-01-31 Thread Richard Kimberly Heck
Public release of LyX version 2.3.4
===

We are proud to announce the release of LyX 2.3.4. This is the fourth
maintenance release in the 2.3.x series.

You can download LyX 2.3.4 from http://www.lyx.org/Download/.

LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based
on the structure of your documents and not simply their appearance. It is
released under a Free and Open Source Software license.

LyX 2.3.4 is the result of on-going efforts to make our stable version more
reliable and more stable. One important change is that we have finally fixed
a large number of bugs related to bibitems (see bug #7548). We have also (we
hope) fixed a long-standing bug involving the saving of files on Windows to
Dropbox folders.

If you think you have found a bug in LyX 2.3.4, please open a bug report at
http://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/BugTrackerHome. If you're not sure whether it
really is a bug, you can e-mail the LyX developers' mailing list (lyx-devel
 lists.lyx.org) and ask.

If you have trouble using LyX or have a question, consult the documentation
that comes with LyX (under the Help or Apple menu) and the LyX wiki, which
is at http://wiki.lyx.org/. If you can't find the answer there, e-mail the
LyX users' list (lyx-users lists.lyx.org), where you will find an
active community of people who are ready to help.

We hope you enjoy using LyX 2.3.4.

The LyX team.
