This has no doubt been thrashed out by developers before, but is there any reason why the config script can't just call kpsewhich for each class to see if it's found. Right now, a fancy latex file is run to do the tex-class detection and report writing. configure.py simply runs it. Because this

I have exactly the same problem. My home directory is not on a remote server and I tried the manual reconfigure. But that didn't work. It tells me that tex\latex\IEEEtran\IEEEtran.cls is missing and that I should install it. I do so. I get the same error. Any more ideas? Thank you in advance.

Problem solved! I first tried with another user directory: C:\Programmer\LyX14\bin\lyx.exe -userdir C:\Programs\LyX That worked. I then deleted my original userdir: c:\Documents and Settings\taa\Application Data\lyx1.4.x Then I tried starting the program up again without the -userdir switch.

Hi I'm having trouble starting LyX. It is probably something pretty simple to solve, but I just don't have a clue. I downloadet ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.4.3/lyx-143-5.exe And went through the installation. When starting LyX I get this error: LyXTextClassList::Read: no textclasses found
