I installed the font and tested and
* The \spadesuit now displays the correct glyph
* I tried several other symbols from the Math Panel and they also are
fine
* (I don't know how to insert symbols by means other than the Math
Panel, so I didn't test that)

Simply type e.g. the command \spedesuit followed by a space in a
formula to test other characters.

cmsy10 font. Two of them (lyxbar and lyxnot) are not known to LaTeX by
